"You're on in five?" A voice said from the other side of the door after a stern nock.
Clarence stopped his pushups and looked up at me, it felt like we had a full conversation with just our eyes before he stood up.
I sat still on the couch, completely frozen as he walked over.
He crouched in front of me, grabbing both of my trembling hands.
"I love you, you know that right?" He asked.
Knock Knock Knock
"Yo gimme a sec!" Clare yelled back.
"Yes," I nodded, voice barely above a whisper.
"Then I need you to trust me, Imma win." He said lowly.
Knock Knock Knock
"I trust you, I promise I do—I just, I can't be alone again. There's nothing more painful then the absence of the person you love." I said lowly.
He sighed and stared at me for a second before leaning in, placing a soft, uncharacteristically nurturing kiss on my lips.
He'd kissed me gently before, but this one was different, it wasn't describable.
After another set of knocks Clarence stood up, grabbing my hand.
As we walked over to the door it swung open, revealing Rodrigo eating a bag of popcorn.
"Ay dios mio for a second I thought you two were having sex." He joked.
Clarence glared at him in response, sending me one last reassuring look before walking ahead of Rodrigo and half of his men.
The other half were with me, escorting me to what I suppose was the area I would be watching from.
As the ring as being cleared of a hopefully unconscious person, I felt my stomach churn.
This was beyond inhumane.
Everyone in the audience was either wearing an expensive suit—tailored and crafted to the highest degree. Or drunk out of there minds, wearing casual clothes like they were at some bar watching a fight on tv.
"Mr.J," I heard from behind me
I turned around to see a ill looking Javier, his usual golden tone was now pale. his lips a dark shade of purple.
"Javier," I said in astonishment, quickly embracing him.
He stood awkwardly before giving me a soft pat on the back.
"What's wrong, a-are you sick?" I asked with concern, scanning his body.
"N-no," he shook his head.
" They haven't been feeding me," he said lowly, coughing a little afterward.
Immediately my eyes widened, he still had his lean, muscular frame—similar to mine, yet slightly more built. But he did look malnourished, his cheeks an indicate due to how slightly sunk in they had become.
