"Mommy, who is this?", She asked
I don't know how, but I felt a physical pain in my heart-like is actually gotten punched.
For one Robin stayed silent, probably unsure of how to handle the situation.
I walked up slowly to Janeah, crouching down so we were eye to eye.
"Hey sweetheart." I said lowly, smiling.
"My mommy says I'm not allowed to talk to strangers." She shook her head.
Again, that familiar pain hit me in the heart.
"Did she really?" I asked causing her to nod.
"Mommy didn't tell you who I was?" I asked again.
"No, who are you?" She asked shyly.
I paused before responding, "I'm your Dad sweetie,"
Her small mouth dropped before she spoke, "but my mommy told me that my daddy was gone."
I squinted my eyebrows, why the hell would she tell her that-a four year old little girl who probably didn't even understand what that meant.
I shook my head in response, "mommy is just confused-I'm right here." I said and held out my hand.
She looked down at it unsure before slapping it and giving me a high five.
"Can I have a hug babygirl?" I asked softly.
Once again she squinted her eyebrows, similar to what I did.
"Um-are you sure you're my daddy?" She asked.
I chuckled and nodded, "I'm positive."
She nodded and leaned forward, wrapping her small arms around my neck.
Abruptly her arms let go, as Robin pulled her behind her.
I stood up and approached her, "What is your issue!" I snapped.
"She doesn't need someone like you in her life!" She snapped.
"What? A father? She doesn't need a father Robin-come on now, stop being such a bi-," I paused and censored myself, "stop being unfair."
"Look Clarence I'm not-" this time she paused and stared past me.
"I know you...." she said simply,
I turned around to see Joshua looking back at her.
"Yeah, we Uh, met in the store brief-"
"You have people watching me!" She cut him off and yelled at me.
"What!" I said, jerking my neck back.
I looked down to see Janeahs face contorted as she gripped onto Robins leg.
