Meet Me Meet You

I felt my chest constrict at her words. Her eyes scanned over my face, and the corner of her mouth twitched before the asshole started laughing like she was the funniest person on the planet.

"That wasn't fucking funny." I pushed her off my lap.

Her hands wrapped around her stomach as she laughed. I brushed the snow off my clothes and shook my head, trying not to murder her. She wiped an imaginary tear from her eye and got into the chair she had knocked over, ignoring what just happened.

"Why did you faint?" I asked.

"I'm guessing it's because of the blood loss," Maria said, "My human body doesn't make enough fast enough and I haven't adjusted yet."

"Blood loss?" I asked.

"Yeah, I was pretty much drained by the hunters. It's a miracle this happened so late." Maria gave an annoyed look to the plate on the floor, "I must've stood up too fast."

"What?" I felt my shift come forward.

Maria took a deep breath and turned in her seat to look at me. She reached her hands out towards me and I allowed her to take my hands in hers. My claws rest on the back of her hands, and I tried to pull them back in, to no avail.

"I'm alive. Sure, they had some fun, but it's over now."

"What did they do to you?" I didn't want to know the answer.

"Tiana had a knife that she liked to use to draw pictures in my skin, but I was never seriously harmed. I bled out from the cuts, but I'm thinking that Tiana unintentionally drained the cure from my system and that's why heat came early." Maria traced circles on the skin of my hands.

"I'm taking you to the doctor the second we get back," I said, leaving no room for argument.

Maria dropped my hands and went back to eating what wasn't knocked over in her fall, clearly not thrilled about needing a doctor. I hadn't noticed Isaac making a ball out of the snow left on the floor until he decided to shove it down my pants. It was a good thing I didn't murder him because Kiernan decided to show up later that day.

He announced himself at the door. Maria invite him in, much to my dismay. Isaac sat by my side at the table and watched as Kiernan entered the room. He came with one wolf by his side who dwarfed him in comparison. The large wolf remained silent for the entirety of our meeting.

Maria took a seat next to me with perfect posture. I didn't give that much of a fuck about it, so I was comfortable slouching. Kiernan sat at the table opposite us and shook the snow out of his hair.

"It's good to meet you both," He spoke, a smile gracing his face.

"Have you just recently come into being an alpha?" Maria asked.

"Is it because I look so young?" Kiernan laughed.

I would've pegged him as around our age, so I guessed it would be acceptable to make that joke. I didn't think it was funny.

"No disrespect, but I've never heard of you before today," Maria explained.

"I am slightly new, that's for sure. I've only been at this for about four months, but you probably know better than anyone that four months feels like a lifetime." Kiernan smiled at Maria.

"So why are you here?" I asked rather rudely.

"To what do we owe this honor?" Maria shot me a look, which I ignored.

"I don't really care about the formalities, so don't worry about it. I was curious about the two very young alphas my wolves described," Kiernan extended his hand to shake, "And I couldn't pass on the opportunity to meet you."
