A/N:  Nearly at 100 chapters!  So because of that, you know I have to do something special~

So I decided on doing a multi-part special in honor of this (all the chapters will be non-linear).  Here is Part 1: He Goes To War

Enjoy~

Prologue

"You can't be serious!"  You said, looking over at the man in disbelief.  He looked down.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but our country is going to war,"  He said.  "And your husband, as the personification of the nation, is to be recruited.  He must leave this week."

You just stood there in shock as the man from the government left, seeing that there was nothing more to say.

You were naturally upset, but what could you do?  This is war, and he has to go, whether you like it or not.

A/N:  Just a quick note, I never specify who is fighting who (so as not to offend anyone).

America

You were in tears as you stood by Alfred at the train station, the tear streaks prominent on your face as you had been crying for days now.  You glanced around and noticed other young recruits with their loved ones, saying their farewells.

"Alfred... do you have everything?"  You asked, not really sure what else to say.  Alfred moved his hat a bit.

"Yeah, I do,"  He said, turning to you and pulling you into a hug.  There wasn't much joy in that voice.  It felt hollow.

"Alfie... I-"

"Don't worry [name],"  Alfred said, leaning down towards your ear as his hug got tighter.  "I'll be your Hero, I'll come home soon."  He said.

"*sniff* Alfie..."

"I'll end this war, you'll see,"  He said, pulling back from the hug to give you a big, confident smile, making you giggle a bit as a conductor came out of the train.

"Boarding!"  The man yelled before moving back into the train.  With reluctance, the recruits all began drifting to the train, Alfred giving you one last wistful smile before tipping his hat towards you.  He then stepped into the train.

You watched in tears as the train left, watching it till it was out of sight, no smoke to be seen before breaking down in more tears, just like the rest of the people left behind.

England

"Underwear?"

"Of course I have that packed, love,"  Arthur said in an exasperated tone.

"Just checking,"  You said, looking down at your list.  "And did you remember to pack a lot, along with soap and-"

"Yes, love, I have all the necessities packed,"  Arthur insisted, putting his luggage by the door.

"And a few potions?"  You asked.  Arthur rolled his eyes.
