Alivia's POV

"We're sorry Ms.Rooney, but you have cancer." He said making my heart drop.

"Oh my god." Mili said as Zo and Kyle had looks of fear and shock on their faces.

"You're lying." I said not believing what he just said.

"We're not Ms.Rooney. You have a malignant tumor in the cerebellum of your brain." He spoke making me laugh.

"No, this is some type of practical joke that you fools are playing on me." I pointed at my friends, but they shook their heads no.

"We wish this was a joke Ms.Rooney." The doctor said while giving me a sad look.

"Are you serious?" I asked as I looked at them in shock.

"Yes, Ms.Rooney, we'll give you guys some time to process this." He told me before they left.

"I'm so sorry mama." Mili said as she wrapped her arms around me.

"I just can't believe it." I said as a few tears fell from my eyes.

"We can't either." Zo said as I felt him sit besides my legs.

I sat there and wiped my tears away. I felt Kyle sit down on my right side. Mili held me as she cried too. I felt Kyle hold my right hand as Zo held my left. After Mili and I cried, I helped her clean off her makeup. We sat in my hospital room in silence. We sat still quite and in shock when the doctor walked back in.

"Ms.Rooney, we need to discuss your treatment option. If you guys wouldn't mind I need to speak to Ms.Rooney alone." He told my friends but I cut him off.

"No, they are the closest people to me, they stay." I told him making him nod.

"Ok then, Ms.Rooney during your MRI and CT scan a malignant tumor was found in the cerebellum portion of your brain. We have confirmed with your tests that this tumor is stage 4 brain cancer. This is what your headaches were caused by. The growth of this tumor pushed at the cerebellum of your brain. This caused the pain and the occasional collapsing.  Ms.Rooney, I'm sorry to say but surgery is not a safe option. This tumor has grown so deep into the cerebellum of your brain that if we were to operate there is a chance that we may harm part of the brain. This may permanently offset your balance and potentially cause you to become paralyzed. This may also mean that you may not be able to play basketball again. Therefore, we have two options for you. We can either use chemotherapy in an attempt to kill the cancer cells or we can use radiology to possibly shrink the tumor then operate. The danger of surgery may still arise." By the time he stopped talking I had tears streaming down my face.

"How long do stage 4 patients usually live?" I asked as I wiped away my tears.

"Usually a year." He spoke looking down.

"Oh my god." Mili squeaked as my breath caught in my throat.

"What's the fastest and safest option?" I asked as I watched Zo sit with his head in his hands.

"Chemo." He spoke confidently.

"Let's do that." I told him trying to get the conversation over.

"Perfect, your first treatment starts tomorrow at 10 am." He spoke as he wrote something down on his clipboard.

"Thank you sir." I told him making him nod.

"I'll leave you alone for the night." He nodded as he placed his pen in the pocket of his lab coat.

"Thanks doc." I called as he walked out.

I sighed as Mili sat beside me on my bed. I looked at Zo and Kyle but they just stared at the floor.
