Kyle's POV
"You nervous?" My mom asked as I drove us through Flint, Michigan.
"I just want to get her home and safe." I sighed as I tapped my fingers against the steering wheel.
"You're getting her today. You've done everything right. You've filled out every piece of paperwork you need." My mom tried to sooth me.
"I just want this to go easy and smoothly for her." I sighed as I stopped at a red light.
"It will, Kyle. You've been working on this diligently since Alivia died. You've passed every test, you haven't missed a single meeting, you've done everything right." My mom said as pulled into the parking lot.
"The moment Cathy told me she was back in the system I knew I had to take her home with me." I sighed as I laid my head on the steering wheel. To say I was nervous would be an understatement.
"Baby, she deserves the best life and you're the only that can give her that. You're taking your daughter home today." My mom said as she scratched my back.
"Thank you for everything momma." I smiled at her.
"You're welcome baby. What can I say? I'm excited to become a Gigi." She said making me smile.
"You're gonna be a great Gigi." I smiled as I grabbed my briefcase. "You ready?"
"Let's go get your girl." My mom smiled before we got out of the car.
I sighed as I got out of the car. I looked up to the building that we were about to enter.
Flint Home for Girls
I took a deep breath before I opened the door for my mom. We walked in and I smiled as I saw a bunch of girls running around. I absolutely love kids and to see this many made my stress disappear.
"Kyle." I smiled as I saw Cathy Sanders.
"Hey Cathy, how are you?" I asked as I hugged her.
"Good. Big day, are you ready?" She asked smiling.
"I am. I'm nervous as hell." I chuckled lightly.
"That's normal, but you've done everything right." She smiled as she looked up to me.
"I told you." My mom said as she smacked my arm.
"Well, I've signed you in and now we wait." Cathy said as she gestured to the waiting area.
We walked over and sat down. My leg bounced up and down as we waited. I sighed as I pulled out my phone. A picture of Alivia and I popped up on my lock screen. God, I missed her.
"She would be so proud of you." My mom whispered in my ear.
"She would be the mother." I said as I looked at my mom.
"Something tells me that she would've loved that." My mom smiled making me nod.
"She fell in love with this little girl and I did too." I sighed as I leaned my forearms on my knees.
"That little girl loves you too." My mom rubbed my back.
"Kyle Kuzma." A female voice called making my head snap up.
My mom and Cathy patted my back as I stood up and fixed my blazer. My mom gave me a soft smile before I walked up to the lady.
"Mr.Kuzma, my name is Mrs.York. I'm the owner. I'll see you now." She said as she opened a door for me.
