Chapter twenty one

Arjun's POV

There were plasma screens of arrival and departure times on the wall of the airport. People were lined up at the check in desk with suitcases and baggage. There was a sculpture of a whale with water cascading from it's mouth and flowing down it's tail flukes. In the background soft classical music played. In the arrivals lounge there was a curious mixture of bored and excited people. Some looked like they were waiting for a bus, others like they were children waiting for Santa himself. Some lounged on the low comfy chairs and others bounced on their toes.

"Randhir I don't find her." I informed a frustrated Randhir

"You reached late you idiot. She's already hired a cab." He said.

"But Randhir-"

By then he had abruptly hung up.

Randhir had sent me on Veer's behalf to pick up his little sister who was coming from London. The flight from London hasn't arrived yet and it seems she's already in the cab on her way to meet her brother.

Weird people!

I walked up to our office which was Randhir's home when I realized Randy wasn't here. But there was someone else in his seat.

"Arjun?" She questioned.

"Yes. And you are?" I asked.

"The girl you were supposed to pick up in the morning" she answered.

"I'm sorry but the flight was delayed right? I saw it at the check in so..."

"I took a flight which was en route to Delhi" she said hesitating.

This woman was definitely hiding something.

"So you're Veer's sidekick" she asked

"I prefer the term best friend" I said in a matter of fact tone.

She raised an eyebrow.

"I doubt so" she said "prove me wrong"

"And how do I do that?" I asked

"Veer and I are childhood friends. He hasn't been receiving my calls. You try If he receives I'll agree to that you're his best friend" she said.

I took out my phone and dialled Veer when the lady came to me and snatched the phone and put it on speaker.

Ring..

Ring..

Ring..

She gave me a smirk "told you so" she said and was about to hang up when a voice on the other end spoke up.

"Hello?"

"Veer!" I said as if he saved my life.

"What happened Arjun" he said in a low voice.

"I love you Veer" I said in excitement.

"What the fuck Arjun? All these days I spent with you I thought you were straight. I didn't know you were-"

"Oh hello I didn't mean it that way. I'm straight too" I said as I felt embarrassed.

The lady looked at me in defeat.

"Where are you?" I asked

"At home" he replied.

"Then why are you talking in a low tone" I asked

"She's sleeping" he said and I could sense the blush on his cheeks.

"Oh Miss Goodygood in two shoes" I said.
