Veer's POV
Paas aayie ke hum nahin aayenge baar baar
Something in her voice kept pulling me close towards her. I don't know if it was the melody or the mystery
Baahein gale mein daal ke hum ro le zaar zaar.
The gate had to be closed so what can someone do here at this point of the night.
Aankon se phir yeh pyaar ki barsaath ho na ho.
Shayad phir is janam mem mulaaqat ho na ho..."Excuse me?" I said as she paused and looked at me as I kept staring at her in shock.
What the hell is this woman doing here ????
"Samara!" I said looking at her. "Is it really you now? Or am I dreaming?"
"God Veer! Don't be so dramatic! You should be an actor you know" she said sighing.
"I can't help the fact I'm multitalented." I said winking.
She smiled at me which made me feel a little awkward.
"I called you up but then you didn't lift my call" I informed her
"See... My phone's battery is dead" she said showing me her mobile.
"Which orphan kid were you helping today?" I asked cheekily.
"A cancer patient who always wanted to watch a cricket match in a stadium. I gave away my pass to him and missed the wonderful knock of 52 not out innings by the Great Veer Kapoor!" She replied.
"You know Samara you're the kindest soul I've ever met" I said
"Oops Veer Kapoor just got impressed by a normal average girl" she said putting her tongue out.
"You're not an average girl Samara! You saved my life and my career" I said with gratitude.
"And you saved today's match" she said winking.
"I want you to come over to a party if you can somehow let your warden sleep early by mixing sleeping pills in her tea" I suggested.
"Stop thinking like a criminal Veer! " She said
"Veer" I heard my mom's voice and I immediately pushed her into the bushes.
My mom wouldn't want me to be talking to my almost love right now at this particular point of the night especially when she's entered the premises of my house without permission!
"Haan Ma" I answered my gaze fixed on her
"What are you doing outside?" She questioned from the balcony of my room.
"Just came out for fresh air." I said
As soon as mom left I pulled this girl out and from the back door entered my room
"Wow this place is so beautiful and feels like home" she said
"Thanks but I'm sorry it's a bit clumsy and messy" I said removing my clothes from the bed and throwing them into the dryer
"This place feels home Veer" she said
"Umm...thanks" I said shuttering.
"So how does it feel to be back on the team?" She asked
"Just because you're a journalist..."
"Fine baba sorry" she said even before I completed my sentence.
"Did it pain when you got that tatoo done?" I asked
"No I've always wanted one. So it kind of didn't hurt much" she said fidgeting.
"What is your connection with the asylum?" I asked all of a sudden.
"That happens to be my home" she said smiling.
"How can an asylum be a home Samara. That is practically impossible!" I said shocked
"I lost my parents in an accident. I had a twin. She was my world until one fine day...." She paused
"One day what Samara?" I asked curious.
"She began acting weird. And we lived in an orphanage close by to the asylum. So the lady who took care of her admitted both of us into the asylum. Her because she was hurting people and me because I saw imaginary people" she said
"What happened next?"
"The doctors told me I was fine but my sister she wasn't. They gave her a lot of shock treatments and one day she was gone" she paused as she bit her lip.
"I'm sorry... I didn't know there was so much behind your connection with the asylum" I said guiltily.
"Are you hungry? I guess I can get you something to eat" I said
"No Veer I'm fine I need some air. I guess I have to leave now" she said rising
"Samara let me drop you home" I said
"Okay if that's what you want" she said smiling.
The road is midnight under the cloud, yet beyond is the dawn. As the moon sets, its rising is already promised to the land, to the green shoots who wait in faith. And so, even though our eyes may only see one step at a time, we stride on, eyes wide. For when this passes we will be as a couple in love, giggling at the jokes that kept us in glued to each other through out the one hour journey.
"Where's your hostel exactly?" I asked stopping my vehicle in front of a huge mansion
I remember coming to this house once or twice.
"I'm not going to the hostel today" she said getting off my bike
"Then? Where will you stay?" I asked concerned.
"Here" she said pointing out to the mansion.
I don't know why I have a very familiar feeling of being in this place for a couple of times.
"But it's dark and lonely" I said
"Okay wait" she said walking up to the main door and switching on something.
And suddenly the whole house lit up.
"Is this place yours?'' I asked coming to the main door.
"My friend's. I told her I was meeting someone important" she said smiling.
"Veer you should go" she said all of a sudden.
"What's wrong?" I asked looking at her tensed expression
"No.. nothing" she said
"Samara you're sweating. You're sure everything is okay?" I asked
"Veer please go" she pleaded
"Fine but take care" I said sighing and walking away
"Please forgive me I never wanted to hurt you." She said
"What are you talking about?" I asked
"About whatever is about to come next" she said as she went in and slammed the door
I silently rode off home wondering what she meant!
