Chapter twenty three

Anamika's POV

"Hey what's wrong?" Veer asked stopping me as I kept running away from the cafe.

"I've seen someone familiar and I don't want to face him. Not now. Not at such a complicated phase of life" I replied.

"Anamika is everything okay?" Arjun asked.

"It's fine Anu. I'm here with you. For you" Veer said hugging me.

Did he just call me with my nickname?

"Let's go home please" I requested.

"Yeah sure" Veer said.

But suddenly a guy came running and stopped right in front of us.

"I've been calling out for you but looks like you didn't listen" he said

Veer and Arjun looked at each other.

"Did you recognize me or do you want me to remove my spectacles?" He asked

"I'd never forget that Face of yours - Yug Sinha" I replied.

"Honestly I still think of you Seher. You're someone I search for in everyone I meet" he said.

Yug looked down at the dark locks that had been attached to his head moments before. He ran his hand through the stubble that stretched over his scalp, thicker than a freshly harvested field. It was coarse to the touch, all trace of softness gone. He smiled. This was the new him. He could be soft on the inside all he wanted, but his outside had to be tough and composed. It was about time nice guys finished first, even if they had to look tough to do it.

"Thanks" I said.

"How's life treating you Seher?" He asked.

"Well with the world's best men on either of my side what can I even say?" I said.

"And you are?" He asked looking at Arjun.

"That's Arjun Bakshi - my best friend and this is Veer Kapoor - my... Boyfriend" I said pausing and emphasising on the last word as all the three looked at me in shock.

"Wow that's cool. I'm a huge fan of you Veer Sir" he said as I smiled at him.

"Yeah thank you. I'm sorry Yug but we're a little late so I guess we have to leave" Veer said.

"Yeah sure it was great meeting you sir" he said as they shaked hands.

"I missed you Seher" he said.

"It was good to meet you again Yug" I replied.

He nodded and left.

"Who's that guy? I didn't like him" Arjun responded.

"I didn't like him either. And it's a long story. Maybe I'll tell you some other day" I said.

"Arjun you had to go home na!" Veer said all of a sudden.

"Me? No bro" Arjun responded as Veer gave him a glare.

"Oh okay yeah I had to I forgot I'll see you both soon..." He replied and left as Veer and I walked all the way back to his home.

As soon as he opened the door Bruno came running to him.

"Awww missed me kiddo?" Veer asked patting him.

Bruno brought him a ball and wanted to play fetch.

"Do you mind if I spend a fifteen minutes with him?" He asked lifting Bruno.

"No I don't Veer" I said.

"Cool then we'll be in the garden if you need something" he said walking out.
