Chapter thirty

Preethi's POV

As Anamika went upstairs I noticed my mobile which beeped.

Arjun 👻
We're in the basement.
Anu is sending Dr.Bose's body along with the equipment.
Come out ASAP!

I didn't know who threw the first punch, but suddenly my fist was slamming into her face while she sunk into my stomach. Blood pooled in her mouth as I gagged.

We stumbled apart for a brief second to catch our breaths before diving back at each other, eyes narrowed in determination.

I dodged her fist and came up with my own; for a brief instant, her eyes widened before she managed to tilt her head back and slam it into mine.

Stars burst in my vision but I shook it off, blinding throwing a sloppy kick.
She stepped back, easily evading the kick.

"Is that all you got?" she crowed, smirking infuriatingly at me. I growled and threw myself at her, changing direction at the last minute.
My blood hummed in my veins as determination and anger took over.

"Anwar Don't look help" she said as Anwar held me from behind as she received a call.

It wasn't like he caught me It was if he was hugging me from behind. Or I'm probably feeling that because of my stupidity.

"I won't hurt you" he whispered.

"Then why're you helping her?" I asked

"To save you" he said as I cursed myself.

"You can't always be the hero, sometimes it has to be me" he said giggling.

I nodded.

"Anwar baby hold her, I'll check for that old man and be back. They've arrested Randy and in case anything goes wrong I swear to God I'll kill this woman" she said.

"Don't worry babe I'll hold her as long as you want" he said and I laughed at her stupidity and my perverted mind.

She probably walked half of the staircase when I pushed Back him from myself.

"What happened?" He asked surprised.

"For the past one hour I convinced myself I was about to kill you. Because I thought you were on their side" I said as he looked at me raising an eyebrow.

"You thought? We've known each other for so long and you thought I'd betray you? I'm not so mean" he replied.

"Just give me your hand" he said.

"No" I replied.

"Look I'm not asking you to marry me, I'm just asking you to save your own life" he said as I giggled.

"You both idiots" Paridhi said as she came downstairs.

"How could you betray me Anwar?" She asked as she shot a bullet and both of us dodged

Instinctively Anwar took the revolver and shot her.

She fell to the ground before the gunshot reached my ears. It was a violence to the still of the April morning - a noise that heralded death and destruction. It broke the air in stark contrast to the voice of the birds that rang out in this dawn and the oblivious nature that surrounded me as I hid right behind him.

He dropped the gun in shock.

Thankfully the bullet had hit her in her arm and not in the heart.

She struggled to get up and I noticed Anamika walk down as she looked at Paridhi in a pool of blood.

"Did you send Dr.Bose?" I asked

She nodded

Arjun and Veer came running inside.

"Is everyone okay? We heard gunshots" they said.

"Yeah everyone is fine. But where's Dr.Bose?" I asked

"We have transferred him to an ambulance. He'll be in a hospital soon" Veer said.

Soon another bullet hit a table nearby.

Paridhi was still trying to shoot despite the injury in her arm

Honestly this woman was a desperate soul.

"And what about Randhir?" Anamika asked

"He is under the custody of police and the DGP has agreed to withdraw all the case charges against us since we helped him find Randhir" Veer said.

"And what do we do to her now?" Anwar asked

"First of all, who shot her?" Arjun asked

"I did" Anwar raised his hand.

"Who's side were you on?" Anamika asked.

"On yours. I pretended to be on her side so that I could make sure all of you were safe" he replied.

Soon the cops were here and they took away Paridhi.

First they would take her to the hospital and then the police station and finally the jail.

How cool is it that both the brother and sister are going to be in jail?

Both of them are going to redefine sibling goals.

"It's all over" Anamika said.

"Everything is done.My split personality disorder.My first love. My career. Everything" she said somewhat hurt.

"Anu, You found yourself a family." Arjun said being sensible for the first time in his life.

We all gave each other a group hug.

"So what to next?" Veer asked.

"I'll still be the entrepreneur and social activist I am. No change" Anwar replied.

"Pree sent a portfolio of mine to an agency. They asked me to meet them tomorrow. They want a hero for a short film who could play a gangster" Arjun replied. "And I'm a natural"

"Well I'll get back home nursing Dr.Bose and get him back to his feet. And keep watching Cricket like I always did" Anamika said.

"And I'll go back to London I guess. I never felt India was made for me. Whenever I came problems came along with me too" I kept walking and realized the whole group wasn't.

"You can't go back" Arjun said.

"Why not? I didn't stay here after my +2 remember?" I asked

"But now we're a family" Veer said.

"I'm sorry Veer. I came to India to meet Dr.Bose and ask him to sign my thesis. He did and after a week I got to hear about his disappearance. So I tried working on it. And here we are at the solution of the case" I exclaimed.

"When are you going back?" Anwar questioned.

"Tonight" I said as everyone hung their heads down.

"We'll miss you so much" Anamika said giving me a hug.

"Yeah me too" I replied as everyone came forward and bid their last goodbyes.

Soon I reached my place and began packing all my things as I prepared myself to move away from all the problems my people had ever faced.

I was ready to say goodbye to India.
