On the drive home, I look over into the drivers side and see Grayson, staring at the road. Despite the chat we had before we left, I can tell he's still upset.

"We should probably get gas" I say, trying to stop the wave of sadness in the air.

"Yeah," he says quietly.

We find a Shell station about two minutes later. Grayson pulls up to the pump and gets out to fill the tank.

I pulled down the mirror and looked at myself. My face had streaks of tears on it and my eyes were bright, which always is a surefire way to tell if I've been crying.

[Get it together El.]

Another minute passed and he reentered the car looking utterly lost.

"Look at me."

Grayson turns to me.

"You're still my best friend... no matter what happens."

We got home in about two hours and he dropped me off in front of my house.
"Later bestie," I said winking at him as I got out of the car.

He smirked and drove off.
