Chapter 23
Peter Parker's POV
Morgan and I are currently in the living room playing board games. We're trying to enjoy our last few weeks in this house before we have to move back to the city. As relaxing as the quiet is, I miss the hustle of the city too. I've lived in the city all of my life so having lived in the country for a bit was quite a change for me. I think it did all of us good though. I mean Mr. Stark and his family were here for five years. This was their home for five years. I can only imagine how much Morgan and Pepper will miss this house. It's a quaint house and the lake is serene.
Morgan and I are playing Candy Land. She loves being the red gingerbread character and I go for blue as my second choice. Blue is my second favorite color, red obviously being the first. Morgan has mastered the concept of Candy Land quickly and ends up beating me a few times. I win a couple of rounds though so it all evens out. She smiles at me adorably. "This is fun Peter. Thank you for teaching me how to play Candy Land. It's now my favorite game." I ruffle her hair playfully. "You're very welcome little sis. I've enjoyed playing it with you too. This was actually one of my favorite games when I was your age." "Really?" I chuckle. "Really."
I then teach her how to play Connect 4, another one of my favorite games both growing up and just in general. Before we know it, it's time for supper. Pepper... I mean my step-mom... I mean my mom. I don't know how to refer to her to be honest. I should probably ask her. She made us stir fry rice and chicken for dinner. We each set up our place mats, utensils, etc on the dinner table. We then assist ourselves with the exception of Morgan who needs a bit of help. The food is delicious. I smile at her. "Pepper, the food is delicious." She smiles. "I'm glad to hear it. By the way, don't hesitate to call me whatever is most comfortable for you. I'm not trying to replace your parents, your aunt, or your uncle. I know that I've said that before but I figured a friendly reminder wouldn't hurt."
I ponder on that for a moment before I smile at her. "Tony was like a father to me so you're like a mother to me. I'll call you Mom." She comes over and kisses me on the forehead in a motherly way. "Thank you Son." My heart aches. I haven't been called son in so long. I've really missed how it rings nicely in my ears. Morgan pats me on the knee. She's the sweetest little girl I've ever met. I'm so honored to be a part of this family now. I have two families now, this one and the Avengers as a whole. I still have my original group of friends too. Life is finally getting back on track for me. I mean I was technically dead for five years...
Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! It's been hectic for the past few days. I got hired at a new job with better hours, better pay, and less toxic people. My former job was a toxic environment I was in for three years. The change is much needed. I start next week and look forward to it! :) -Mary
