Chapter 21
Thor's POV
As Bruce and I are saying goodbye to Pepper, Rhodey, Happy, Peter Parker, and Morgan, we settled on our next venture. We're going to go back to New Asgard and pay our dear friends there a visit. Those dear friends being Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie of course. Bruce is just as fond of her as I am. We both could use some familiar territory for awhile. New Asgard is very peaceful. It reminds us both of a place called Maine. Us Avengers visited there once for a beach vacation. I think the beach was called Old Orchard Beach. I liked it a lot.
Bruce and I are driving there. We found an abandoned RV that is in great condition and is large enough to hold both Bruce and I in it. Bruce is still able to drive in his new form, he just has to do so a bit more cautiously. Bruce loves being Professor Hulk. Both of his personas are finally comfortable in their own skin. That's all I've ever wanted for Bruce. The drive to New Asgard will take roughly a day. We'll stop about halfway to rest. We'll also switch turns at the wheel every two to three hours. "My dear Bruce, are you excited for this road trip? I can't wait to drink beers for old times sake with our buddies from our Ragnarok days." He smiles adorably at me. "Absolutely, though I'm limiting you to two cans of beer. You've made a lot of progress since the battle with your drinking habits. I want to continue to help you stay on track."
I sigh. "I suppose that's fair. I want to drink for pleasure though this time around rather than sadness. That has to count for something right?" He shrugs his shoulders. "I guess. Thor, I need to tell you something." I glance at him as he drives behind the wheel. "Do you need to pull over to tell me?" He shakes his head no. "No it's not urgent enough that I need to pull over in order to tell you. Let me just spit it out... Valkyrie used to have a crush on you." I look at him in disbelief. "You're messing with me. She has never liked me in that way." He nods bashfully. "She did actually back when we first met her. She used drinking as an excuse to spend more time with you."
"Wow, I never would have guessed." He chuckles. "She's moved on from that phase but it just randomly popped into my head. I guess I also wanted to give you even more proof that you are indeed worthy of love. A lot of people care about you Thor. I know I have to share you with the world but sometimes I just want you to myself. Is that bad?" I lean my head on his shoulder. "Not at all. I feel the exact same way towards you Bruce. I was envious of Nat getting a lot of your affection way back when. She did become a good friend of mine over time so that feeling of envy did eventually go away." We both stare out at the horizon ahead sadly for a moment. "Her and Tony haven't even been gone that long yet it feels like it's been a century."
I nod. "I can still visualize their faces and hear their voices clearly in my mind. I would have used the stones to bring them both back if I could have but that probably would have altered the timeline even further." He grabs a hold of my hand and squeezes it tightly. "That's exactly what I tried to do but failed. I tried so hard..." I notice a tear trickle down his check and I wipe it away. "You did everything you could Bruce, we all did. Now we just have to move forward and be thankful the universe has been restored." "I love you Thor." I blush. "I love you too Bruce. Let's stop being sad and enjoy our venture to New Asgard. We get some time off from the superhero life. Let's live it up a bit!" He raises his fist. "Hooray!"
