Chapter 28
Carol's POV
No one knows this except for Maria and Nick, but I'm officiating the wedding. I got ordained online a month ago with their help. Both of them felt that since I was one of his oldest friends, I should be the one to do it. I was moved to my very core and couldn't object to the request. I buzzed my hair a bit last night to touch up the sides. I'm wearing my finest pantsuit and a matching bowtie to go with it. I wanted to look classy not only for them but to impress a certain girl who will be attending. Her name is Valkyrie. I've had a crush on her since the moment I first laid eyes on her during the battle against Thanos. She's also the ruler of New Asgard which I find to be incredibly sexy. There's just something about extreme power that turns many people on.
Everyone slowly but surely comes up to the roof of Stark Tower. The rooftop can seat up to two hundred people close together without a problem. Pepper and Rhodey set up barriers to protect everyone, especially kids like Morgan, the Barton children, and Peter from falling down into the bustling city traffic. I smile at every single person in the room. When I make eye contact with Valkyrie, my heart beats out of my chest. She's so fierce and incredibly beautiful. Her beauty is unlike any other woman that I've ever seen.
A little while later...
I clear my throat and proceed with the wedding speeches, most of which I memorized from the internet. By this time, Nick has been standing next to me up front and Maria has been walked down the aisle by no one other than Phil Coulson, their other oldest friend besides myself. Both of them look incredible, so destined to be wed to one another. As they say their vows, tears spring to my eyes. I glance straight out at Valkyrie and she appears to look the same way as me. Maria and Nick look at me for permission to kiss another. I laugh through the tears, motioning for them to get on with it. They gladly do so and everyone cheers. Morgan and Peter even run up and down the aisles shooting confetti strips up into the air.
Tony would have been proud of that sentiment. That's probably why his children did it, to honor him at this ceremony. The Barton family then holds up balloons that they somehow managed to conceal until now with Nat's name all over them. They then hurl them into the air, watching them fly up to heaven. We all take a moment of silence to honor both Tony and Natasha. Their legacies will live in through all of us. Thanks to them, we've become a part of this ever growing family that we may complain about at times, but yet we wouldn't trade it for the world.
Valkyrie approaches me as I make my way through the crowd. I smile. "I was just heading to you. I wanted to tell you how great you look." She blushes. "Thank you. So do you Carol. I actually came over to ask you an important question. I wanted to do it sober rather than drunk at the reception. It sounds more sincere when being asked while sober. That being said, will you go out with me on a date? I know you're busy saving beings on various planets in distress and I have a kingdom to rule, but I think the two of us could be great together." I grin at her. "I'd love that. Can our first date be a dance at the reception?" She leaps into my arms. "Done." I smile from ear to ear. I've married two of my long time friends and now I have the girl. What an incredible day all around.
