Nick
"Nick, help me carry the guns." Carlos ordered.
"Guns?!" Sarita exclaimed.
I wanted to get away from here as soon as possible. I knew Walter was mad at me, and I had a gut feeling he would let me die if I was in that position. He could make it look like an accident, and to tell you the truth, nobody in the group would care. Mostly be cutting off most of the pressure by me being gone. But I apologised, and that's really the least I can do. I nodded, and carried the weapons from the table to outside. I handed Luke his machete without any eye contact.
I took ahold of my rifle, and tucked it underneath my right armpit, ready to shit if possible. Together, we all ran to the turbine, we were so close that it was shushing the wind through our fucking eardrums.
We all looked at the turbine electrical controls, when a mechanical boom spread all over the turbine and lodge. The lights at the front clicked off momentarily.
"Damnit! Transformer must've gone!" Kenny snarled. He looked at us. "Gotta check it. I could use a hand."
"I'll go with you." Luke volunteered. Kenny nodded.
"I'm going too." Sarita insisted.
"No!" Kenny snapped. "It's too dangerous!"
The wind continue to blur as they spoke.
"Rest of you, get this thing shut down." Kenny ordered. And with that, he and Luk ran in the other direction.
Sarita nodded, and the rest of us crowded around as she opened the door, revealing electrical controls and conductivity of some shit.
"Does anyone know how to do this?" Carlos asked, looking between Sarita and Clementine. Sarita drew a blank. But Clementine nodded.
"I can do it." She said, and Carlos looked at her with an unreadable expression.
"Okay, we'll watch your back." Carlos turned to look at me. "Nick, scan the trees with me."
And with that, I loaded my rifle, and caught guard with Carlos at the empty perimeter of the trees. It seemed to be a small matter of time when the wind turbine slowed down to a halt, and the sound was gone.
But the lurkers that usually would appear at this point weren't here.
And there was a passenger of dreadful silence.
"Somethin' ain't right." I said.
"Yeah." Carlos agreed. And as we said that, one rotted lurker appeared. Easy. We can take that one down for sure. But as I arched, more and more appeared. Soon, that one walker was multiplied by 20 or so. Clementine walked up beside me, a worried expression in her face.
"We don't have much ammunition." Carlos said, raising his gun at aiming point.
"We gotta get back to the lodge." I said. With that, I turned to direction of the lodge, but my view was interrupted with moaning corpses limping towards us. "They're behind us!"
Carlos started shooting at them, and soon walkers were falling dead upon walkers. I started to shoot too, aiming only for the head until they too started dying on my watch. Clementine noticed walkers coming towards her, and she took her gun out and shot straight too.
Soon, both Clementine and I clicked out of ammo. I looked at Carlos, panicked.
"Get to the lodge!" He yelled. I nodded, and Sarita and I ran through a thick lining of walkers to the lodge's edge. But Carlos didn't join us, or Clementine. I looked back to see him shooting walkers, to protect Clementine, until he took ran towards us. I turned around to examine to more walkers appearing from the woods. Fuck fuck fuck.
As I wasn't paying attention, a par of hands grabbed my forearms from below. I yelled and looked around.
Nobody was there to help me. I had no gun, or ammo, or weapon to fight this off.
It's skin was peeled away behind its eyeballs, and I tried to push it away in case it's teeth would find my neck. It moaned and festered at my presence.
"Somebody help me!" I yelled.
I saw Clementine approach, but she took was defenceless. There was nothing she could do.
"Nick!" She yelled.
"Please help me!" I yelled back. If she could find a rock, or something, that would helpful at least!
Until a gunshot ran last my ear, the walker fell to the ground dead. I turned around, and saw Walter, of all people, standing there. He looked at his own gun, as it contemplating whether he should've done that or not. Together, we ran to the others, where they were still fighting walkers. Kenny and Luke were no where I be found.
I mean, why the fuck do I care? Kenny is an asshole, and Luke...I don't even know what the fuck to say about him.
"Clem, get inside!" Carlos ordered. Clementine looked at us, before retreating to inside the lodge. As we started running low on ammo, we noticed that nobody in our group was shooting. Yet we heard gunshots. The sounds of an AK47. Something we don't have.
The lurkers started dropping dead, and in the distance, we saw Carver, with two men by his side, recognisable as Troy and Johnny. Except Bonnie was there too.
That betraying bitch.
They surrounded us, cocking their rifles around us.
"Howdy folks!" Carver said, and approached Carlos in particular. "Where's Rebecca?"
Carlos didn't answer, instead he spat at Carlos's face. I smirked.
"Nice to see you too..." Carver wiped his face, before hitting Carlos in the jaw.
From inside, Sarah came running out to her Dad.
"Dad!" She yelled, and hugged him. Carlos hugged back, but his hostile glare remained on Carver.
Carver turned around, and pointed at the lodge.
"Inside." He said. And with that, Troy started moving the rest of them to the lodge. I couldn't fucking believe this.
When Walter saw Bonnie, he just gaped at her.
"It's you." He said, disappointed.
"Keep movin'." She said, and we all walked up to the lodge.
We entered inside, with Carver motioning for Bonnie to sit us down. Sarah, Walter and I were binded up, my wrists straining against the ties. I stared angrily at them, as they ventured in sight.
"Man, how the fuck are we going to cover these guys, and look for the others?" Johnny complained.
"Johnny, cover that window." Bonnie said, and Johnny walked over, his gun in hand. Clementine, Alvin and Rebecca were missing. I trusted Clementine enough to get them away. Carver looks between us, before picking up Carlos, and dragging him to the centre field of out imprisonment. Sarita gasped, and as I glanced at Sarah's direction, she too was scared about the abrupt abandonment.
Carlos stared forward with confusing, before Carver took a blow to his stomach, Carlos bending over, winded.
I gritted my teeth. Looks like Carver will start doing this to get what he wants.
"Dad!" Sarah exclaimed. Carlos was on his knees, coughing, and trying to get his breath back.
"Listen, I'm only going to ask once. Where's Rebecca?" Carver asked, pointing his volume upstairs too, to wherever Rebecca may be.
"Sarah, look at me." Carlos tried to soothe his daughter, who at this moment was hyperventilating. "It's gonna be okay."
Carver grabbed his arm, and gripped his finger backwards. Carlos yelled out in pain.
"Rebecca?" Carver asked again. "Rebecca, our baby deserves to be raised in a place of safety. I know you're out there. And Alvin. And Luke. And the girl."
Clementine.
"This is real simple. You want this over quick, you all play nice and show your faces." Carver implied.
"Don't hurt my Dad! Please!" Sarah yelled.
There was silence, before Carver bent back another one of Carlos's finger. I cringed, and shook my head.
"Just stop! Don't hurt my Dad, please!" Sarah exclaimed. I felt bad, but there was nothing I could do. Nothing I could say to calm her down.
"Fuck you." Carlos muttered. "Shoot him! Somebody just shoot him--"
Carver pulled his neck back, exposing his throat. He held a ridge knife to his neck.
"Say goodbye, Carlos." Carver said, and raised his knife, ready to slash.
"Don't look, sweetie, don't look." Carlos warned. I too was ready to shut my eyes from any graphics.
But from behind me, I heard Rebecca yell,
"Bill! Stop!"
"Ah." Carver smiled, pleased. He threw Carlos forward. Sarah was in hysterics. Carver turned around to see Rebecca, Clementine and Alvin walk in. Alvin and Clementine were forcefully sat down, but Carver approached Rebecca. He caresses the side of her face, and I scrunched up my nose. Why was this man so desperate?
"You alright?" He asked, but Rebecca glared at him.
"Fuck you, Bill." She snapped. Rebecca sat down further down the line.
Walter, who was sitting beside me, started to speak.
"You don't want this. Please, let people go." Walter pleaded.
"Just, shut up!" Bonnie said. God, this hoe. She coulda been a real help when we were escaping the camp, but she just wussed out. She's literally a red haired, female Luke.
After a moment of silence, Johnny, who was out of conflict, got shot dead, the window shattered as he fell to the floor. Troy, Carver and Bonnie were on their heels, creeping around to avoid getting shot.
"Don't move." She told the rest of us. Carver hid behind a pillar, ready to shoot at the designated sniper. At this moment, all I could think of the person was Luke. He's not a good shooter, but he's better than me.
Or maybe Kenny, that bastard wanting to help. But it won't do any fucking good.
"I can't see them." Bonnie said, panic in her voice.
"Watch them." Carver said, and walked over to us. He picked Walter up by his shirt collar, and moved him away. If I had a chance to thank him for saving me life, I would've. But I know how Carver works. I'll never get the chance to.
Walter was kicked to his knees, his face fixated on something for a moment. When he sat up, probably to convince Carver to save his skin, he was shot, brain matter flying on the floor. Sarah yelled out.
"No..." Carlos stressed.
"WALTER!" Clementine yelled, a whimper coming at the end of her cry.
"That's for our man!" Carver yelled, and hid behind the pillar again. "Now, I didn't want to do this, but your leaving me no choice. So here's what's gonna happen. I'm gonna march another one your friends up here, and I'm gonna put a bullet in the back of their heads! Or you can give up now, your choice."
Another bullet rang out, wood flying from the edges of the pillar.
"Hi Alvin." Carver said, and picked a nervous Alvin from his spot.
"You motherfucker!" Alvin cussed, and Carlos yelled out to him.
Rebecca tried to leave after him, but Troy stopped him.
"Bill no!" Rebecca yelled. "Tell him to stop! Kenny stop!"
Carver marched Alvin away, talking to him, his words incoherent over here.
"Bill, no!" Rebecca yelled at him. "We'll do whatever you want!"
Clementine, with a determined look on her face, stood up, and ran around Troy. To protect Alvin, I figured. But how is an eleven year old gonna go against a full grown man with a gun? Carver saw her from the back of his eyes, and flung his arm out at Clementine's stomach, the gun clicking as it penetrated her side. She fell to her knees, and coughed, the hit to her stomach obviously got caught in the wring area. I winced.
Carver dropped Alvin, and picked up Clementine instead. He held her up, the gun to her neck instead. He would use Clementine to lure Kenny from where he was. I knew it would work. It would work if Luke was out there shooting, too.
I saw Kenny, his arms up defensively to surrender himself. He walked inside, and was tied up, Clementine rejoined with the rest of the group.
Fuck.
