Nick
I saw Clementine walk back, with Mike and Bonnie, Mike carrying two large bottles of water.
"You're back." Kenny stated. "Come on. We need to go."
Clementine turned around, and saw the same thing I did.
An etching multiplier of walkers making their way towards the run.
"What the fuck!" Kenny exclaimed. "How are there so many? Where the hell is Luke?!"
"Clementine." Bonnie called. "What about that place you and Jane found?"
"I can show you!" Clementine announced. Kenny moved toward the walkers, his crowbar in hand.
"Kenny?!" Bonnie exclaimed.
"I'll look after them. You guys go!" Kenny said, and with that he began to bash a walker on the ground, kept on repeating to hit the same one.
"Mike, the water!" Clementine demanded.
"On it!" Mike said. He grabbed a water bottle, ad I took the other. "Are you okay? Your arm?"
"My arm is fine." I said, even though it was straining with the weight. "Let's go!"
Bonnie slung her arm around Rebecca to support her. Clementine led the way, although it was getting hard to navigate as the sun was going down. We walked through the crumbled building of the museum, before Clementine pointing to a standing building in the distance, with a large staircase and deck. We moved ahead, Rebecca slowing down as we went. I saw walkers cave in across the nearby river too, so I quickened my pace.
Clementine and I went up the stairs.
And that's when we saw the same thing.
Luke and Jane were sat, side by side, with Luke just slipping on his other boot.
"--That's more human than I've felt in a long time. I almost forgot what--" Luke saw us standing in the hallway. Both he and Jane stood up. "Cl-Clementine! I uh...Nick?!"
"Luke?!" Clementine and I exclaimed at the same time.
I knew it. Luke wasn't interested in me at all. Luke caught my distraught gaze, and Bonnie came in with Rebecca.
"Come on, let's get you comfortable." She said, and set a tired Rebecca down.
I think this is where I bail on the group.
"What the hell are you two doing up here?!" Kenny exclaimed.
"Wait, wait, wait, hold on, what's going on?" Luke asked. I looked down at the observation deck, trying to see where I could bail. But I saw the same thing Mike saw; The herd of walkers collecting together, and surrounding us. With reply to Luke's question, Rebecca held out a scream of pain.
"Jesus, I'm sorry, I didn't know" Luke stuttered.
"Holy shit!" Mike yelled. "There's too many!"
"You wanna help?Find a way to stop them from coming up!" Kenny demanded. He turned to Rebecca. "I can handle this. I've been here before."
Shit. Now I can't find a way out of here, with all these lurkers roaming around. I looked at Luke angrily. He ignored my glare, and moved past, rifle in hands. I was about to turn around and help, but Rebecca grabbed my arm.
"N-Nick!" She cried, and I grimaced as she squeezed tighter. "Please! Don't leave my side"
"What? No, I cant--" I began but Kenny shook his head at me. I had to be here for Rebecca when she had the baby. I kneeled, and I felt the pressure of Rebecca's grasp on my hand as she screamed in pain. I heard the commotion outside, as the deck started to collapse. Panic started folding in on me, as too many things were happening at the same time. My thought spiral tightened. Lurkers, baby, Luke. Kenny focused entirely on Rebecca, and all I could do was hope my circulation wasn't cut off in my hand by the time this baby was born. By this time, the moaning of the lurkers wasn't as close before, and I felt tension as I was bought back to my senses.
Kenny held a small, limp child, Rebecca staring after it worriedly. Clementine and the others crowded around, and I could hear Bonnie's silent crying.
"Is it...?" Clementine began. Kenny stared at the kid.
Don't tell me it's gone.
With a second's hesitation, the baby spluttered, and coughed, and began to cry. Kenny's grieved face melted to a smile, and relief spread from person to person.
