Luke
We walked back, and saw Mike, Rebecca and Bonnie. Kenny was nowhere to be found. Mike turned around, and smiled at us.
"Son of a bitch." Mike said. "You found em'"
"Yeah, I'm...I'm a little amazed myself, to tell you the truth." I said. "Come on, Nick. Let's uh, let's get that shoulder looked at."
Rebecca and Bonnie walked away.
"Wait. Where's Sarah?" Rebecca asked. My stomach sunk.
"Uh, Rebecca, how about we go on a walk for a minute?" I said, and dreaded what was coming next. "Bonnie? Would you, uh, would you help Nick? He got shot back at Howe's."
"Sure thing." Bonnie said, and walked over to Nick and Clementine. Nick gave me a pained expression. He knew what I was doing.
I helped Rebecca, and noticed she could barely walk on her own. Her fragile fingers clutched my hand.
"So..? Don't tell me she..." Rebecca began, her voice cracking. My bottom lip trembled.
"Sarah...she lost it after Carlos. She just...I couldn't do anything. Clementine couldn't either. And then...the walkers...they just..." I couldn't hold back my guilt, and cried. Right there.
I put my hand on Rebecca's back as she began to cry.
"No....no..." She sobbed. I hugged her tightly.
"I'm so sorry. Okay? But...look, we can try to look after everyone else. Okay..." I murmured. Rebecca nodded. Bonnie walked away from where she was talking to Clem, and Clementine walking to a nearby tent.
"Okay, Nick. Come over here." Bonnie said, and Nick walked after her.
Rebecca looked up at me, her eyes filled with tears.
"You and Nick and Clem gotta promise me." Rebecca said. "Promise you'll help out when this baby comes. Promise you won't do anything stupid."
"Of course," I said. "I'll help no matter what."
"Thank..thank you..." Rebecca wiped her eyes. "I haven't had a lot of time to deal with everything...Alvin. Carlos. Sarah..."
I was about to say something, when I heard and agonised scream. I turned around, to see Mike's hand clasped over Nick's mouth, with Bonnie tending his wound.
"What the fuck, STOP!" He yelled.
"Shut up, they're gonna come straight to us!" Mike hissed.
"Jesus." I muttered. "He wasn't doing so good back at that motor home we were at. He could barely stand up."
"You know...I'm not that gullible. I know love when I see it." Rebecca said. "I can see the way Nick looks at you. They way you look at him."
"Um." I said, embarrassed. "Okay, look, I'm not gonna lie, but how could you possibly know that??"
"I have my ways." Rebecca smiled. I could only look away, knowing Nick never would've told anyone. Not in a million years. I guess Rebecca knows more about that stuff than I do, surprisingly.
"So." Rebecca stood there, before siting down at the empty stature ring. "Are you gonna go and help him?"
I roll my eyes, and walk away toward Nick.
He had tears streaming down his face, which Bonnie bandaging up his wound.
"What happened?" I asked. Mike looked up at me.
"Peroxide." Mike answered, and I knew that that would've stung. Like hell.
"Right." I nodded. "You doing okay, Nick?"
"Fuck off." He said, and laughed. I laughed too.
"And look at that." Bonnie said, and stood up. Nick slipped his jacket back on. "Must've been bleeding more since it was right in the artery. But I dunno for sure."
"Where's Sarita?" Nick asked. "Did she...?"
"She got bit back at Howe's. Clementine chopped off her arm, thinking she was doing the right thing." Bonnie shook her head. "She died. Bled out, right in front of Kenny and Clem. Clementine knew what was gonna happened, and took care of her. And boy, Kenny did not like that."
"Clementine and Kenny are in the tent right now, patching things up." Mike sighed. "We've...we've lost some people."
"Wow." I said. I knew I wouldn't have had the stomach to chop somebody's limb off.
"Yeah." Nick sighed, and took hold of shoulder. "I thought that was it. I mean, I was losing so much blood. I thought I was gonna die."
"You know I wouldn't have let that happen." I said, and Bonnie and Mike exchanged glances. I picked up on it. "What?"
"Oh nothin'." Bonnie smirked. "Come on Mike, let's uh, let's go check on Rebecca."
And with that, they walked away.
Nick looked up me.
"The others are suspecting something." Nick warned.
"Expecting what, exactly?" I asked.
"They see...well, they seem to think we're together, or something." Nick looked away, red faced.
"You're right about that." I sighed. "Rebecca knows. For sure."
"We just...gotta be more secretive?" Nick asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, yeah. Okay." I said. "Just, uh. We gotta spend less time together, or somethin'."
Nick nodded. "Yeah, okay."
"Good." I sigh. "I'm gonna go check on Rebecca."
I walked back to where Rebecca was standing, talking to Bonnie and Mike. They both stopped talking when I walked over to them.
"You okay, Bec?" I asked, and Rebecca waved me off.
"I'm...worried. But I'll be fine." Rebecca nodded. "And anyways, it seems like--"
Rebecca grabbed my arm, and I panicked.
"What, what is it?!" I exclaimed.
"It's...my water broke." Rebecca said, and she too looked scared.
"Oh shit! Does that mean what I think it does?!" I asked. Nick came over.
"What's goin' on?" He asked. Kenny and Clementine walked out of the tent, and approached up.
"Are you okay? How does it feel?" Mike asked.
"It feels wet, that's how it feels!" Rebecca snapped.
"What's going on?" Clementine asked.
"Rebecca's water broke." Bonnie replied.
"Oh Christ!" Jane exclaimed.
"We should...I don't know what we should do!" Bonnie gritted her teeth.
"Awe, fuck!" I said.
I don't know the first thing about babies, or...anything like this! Kenny only knew, and she's probably not in the right place right now.
"That means the baby is coming, right?" Clementine asked.
"Kenny. Thank god. I think the baby's coming. What do we do?" Bonnie asked.
"Alright, alright...gimme a sec." Kenny said.
"No way Rebecca can travel like this!" I said, eliminating any possibilities of moving on.
"He's right." Jane said. "She's going to make a lot of noise. They'll be able to smell her, too."
"This place doesn't seem safe for a baby being born." Clementine said.
"That map shows a couple of buildings nearby. Maybe one of those could do the trick?" Mike asked.
"The museum seems like it could be a good start. I'll go." Bonnie said.
"Good idea." I said. "Mike, do you think you could go with her?"
"Sure thing." Mike agreed.
"I'll check the building by the river." Jane volunteered.
"Okay then. Kenny, you uh...you stick with Rebecca. And I will check the perimeter for walkers." I said.
