Nick
I gritted my teeth, and saw the amount of pain Rebecca was in. She was leant up against a pillar, too pained to sit down. I noticed the chill that had come through as night shadowed. I shook my head. The first chance I get, I'm leaving. And at this point, I think my best bet will be while Rebecca has her baby. Everyone will be distracted, and I'll make a break for it. I'm sick of all the bullshit that goes in the group. I'm sick of what doesn't happen between Luke and I.
I saw Clementine walk back, and Kenny walked over to her.
"Clem?" He asked.
"Jane and I found a gift store near the river." Clementine said. "It seems safe enough for Rebecca to have the baby."
"Good, good." Kenny nodded. "When Mike and Bonnie get here, we'll leave."
Kenny turned around.
"I'm...I'm not saying I don't trust em', but maybe you could go after them?" Kenny asked Clementine. "They've been gone a while."
Clementine nodded, and set off in the direction of the museum.
"God." Kenny said, and turned around to Rebecca. "That kid."
"What about her?" I asked.
"I just...I didn't know her for that long before, but it seemed like we had been travelling forever." Kenny smiled. "She's grown a lot."
"Yeah." Rebecca sighed. "Truth be told, haven't we all? I never saw my future sitting in the cold, pregnant, and running from dead human beings."
"I never saw myself with one eye, alone, and chucked into this group." Kenny laughed.
"I never saw myself anywhere." I interjected, and Kenny laughed again.
"Ah." Rebecca said. "You might've not seen it, but we were all certain you and Luke would end up together."
I glared at Rebecca, and Kenny snickered.
"What? You guys are together?" Kenny laughed, and I looked away angrily.
"No. We're not." I said. "Seriously, Rebecca?"
Rebecca laughed.
"I'm kidding, Kenny." Rebecca said, and when Kenny wasn't looking, she winked at me. "But Pete talked about it happening a lot."
"Just shush!" I said, and thought about my own Uncle thinking of that. God. It turns out Rebecca wasn't the only one with an extra sense about those things.
"Whatever." Kenny rolled his eyes. "I'm sure Luke has other interests."
He did?
"Oh yeah." I said. "Like who?"
"Luke mentioned something with Bonnie." Kenny said, and shook his head. "Anyway, it's the apocalypse. We're trying to stay alive. No need for that stuff."
I never thought about that. Luke liking somebody else, other than me. I mean, obviously he had the lash for that stuff. But he never mentioned him liking Bonnie.
Rebecca caught my thought gaze.
"Ugh, I hope the others hurry up." Rebecca said. "I have a feeling this child isn't too far away."
I looked away, and shook my head. I knew Luke said we would stay away from eachother, and I knew that would have to be the case. Because I was leaving. I don't know if I actually would. I just hoped I wouldn't pull a Luke, and pussy out.
...
Luke
I found that the feelings I had for Nick only grew stronger as I had sex with Jane.
It was something I yearned for with him. But I knew I couldn't. There was a time where we had to say goodbye to our old world habits. And...I just couldn't go against my word, and confuse Nick for that. But I couldn't stop now. I was...I was doing something right now. And I knew I couldn't say no. It's like finding gold, and throwing it back. It's too valuable, too delicate.
But I still tried.
"Stop......." I moaned, but Jane continued. God, if I really wanted this to stop, I wouldn't just pushed her off. But I didn't. "Jane..."
I went along with what I was doing, and eventually got into it more.
And the Nick was the very last thing on my mind.
