"You've got a letter, freak."
"Lucas will you shut up while I try to sleep?"
Liliana opened her eyes, and immediately shut them afterwards. Not only was her room beaming with light, but her foster brother, Lucas, was sticking his face rather close to hers.
Lily had often moved from foster home to foster home, for various reasons. She would get physically or emotionally hurt by her caretaker, or they would return her after she isolated herself in her room for days, or they would get freaked out after rather... strange things would happen around her. Her current home, owned by a massive woman who constantly seemed draped in sweat, was swarming with kids. Lily was going to a new home tomorrow, since she had yelled at one of her foster sisters after the sister pulled Lily's hair, and well - everything flew off the kitchen table and shattered somehow.
Lily's tired arms pushed her frail body up off her bed, and she wiped her eyes.
"A letter? From who?" She said, but found that Lucas was no longer on her bed, and rolled her eyes.
She trotted down the stairs, trying to brush her thick back hair out of her face.
"LUCAS, WHERE'S THE LETTER?!" Lily yelled, and found Lucas laying on the couch, flossing his crooked teeth with the letter.
"Wash your greasy hair and I'll give you the letter." Lucas sneered, and Lily's hand shot up to her hair, which was indeed greasy.
"I will tonight, now hand it over." Lily retorted, just as Rita, the caretaker waddled in.
"Oh yeah, that letter. It's from you're new home. There's another letter addressed to you here, not that you deserve it." Rita sighed, flopping down on the couch and tossing the letter to Lily.
With Rita, it was always 'You don't deserve this,' and, 'You don't deserve that!'
"Get some new material." Lily muttered under her breath as she brought the letters up to her room, and shut the door.
She opened the one that Lucas had first. Her eyes met cursive black pen, written neatly on folded parchment.
Liliana, my name is Severus Snape, and you shall call me Severus. There are some things that I must explain to you in person tomorrow, and some that I shall tell you in this letter, so that it's not too overwhelming tomorrow. I am your father. Your real father, blood related. I only found out that I had a child a few years ago, when your mother died. We weren't together, thank heavens that was ended eleven years ago. But she told me before she died that you were put into the foster care system, with fear that you'd 'end up like me.' You'll understand all tomorrow, when you're summoned to my home. That is all.
Severus SnapeLily's hands shook by the end of the letter, and a rush of many emotions entered her body. Anger, happiness, sadness, fear, disbelief. She quietly mouthed a series of swears, and read the paper twice more to verify that it's true. Before she could react intensely, she quickly fumbled for the second letter, wondering what it might contain.
It basically said that she was accepted to 'hogwarts,' a school she never even applied to, and gave a list of things she would need. Her eyes bulged as she saw items like 'cloaks' and 'wands,' then nearly choked when she saw that she would need cauldrons.
This is some sick joke, Lily concluded, but shoved both letters in her duffle bag that she would bring to her new caretaker tomorrow.
She sighed and looked in the mirror, making eye contact with her own black eyes.
If he is my father, then what parts of me will look like him? Lily wondered.
She had thick black hair, which needed to be washed very frequently because it got greasy so easily. She had black eyes, pale skin, and a button nose. There were also a few freckles sprinkled across her small nose.
"LILIANA, YOU'RE ON BREAKFAST DUTY!" Rita shrieked from her usual spot on her couch.
"Coming!" Lily sighed, and walked back down the stairs, but her mind stayed in her room, thinking about her two letters, but mostly the first one.
"Some twisted prank from my shitty new foster parent." She muttered out of denial.
If it truly is her father, Lily frowned at the thought that she knew she would disappoint him.

Hey everyone, thanks for choosing this book! This chapter was pretty short, just to introduce Liliana and just her overall life, and to kick things off with her letter from Snape and Hogwarts - sorry if this chapter was trash though.
Thanks<3
