"Apparating?" Lily asked.
"Take my arm and don't let go." Snape replied, and she put her hand on his arm, then suddenly felt a tugging sensation on her navel, as if I she traveling 1000 miles per hour, going upside down and in every other direction possible.
Lily opened my eyes suddenly, to realize she was in a busy street full of cute shops with odd names. She felt very out of place, since she was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and everyone else had cloaks of many different colors. There was a lot of dust in the air, and a lot of children running from shop to shop.
As soon as she noticed all of these things, Lily also noticed how dizzy she was, and fell on the ground.
"First time apparating?" A woman said with an amused tone at Severus, and he extended his lip to the side, which Lily guessed was supposed to be a smile.
Lily slowly pushed herself up, and put her hand on Snape's shoulder to steady herself.
"Sorry." She mumbled out out of embarrassment and took her hand off his shoulder.
"At least you didn't throw up." He said.
"What are we going to do first?" Lily said, examining all the little shops.
"Ollivander's is nearby, let's get your wand first." Severus replied, and Lily followed him into a shop, filled with many, many small boxes.
The door shut behind them, and an old man with white hair scurried out from a back room, and over to Lily and Severus.
"Aahhh, a new witch, ready to receive her first wand. Name, Miss?" Ollivander asked, as he eyed her up and down with wonder, occasionally glancing towards Snape.
"Lily." She replied, and Snape looked over to her.
"Liliana." He corrected.
"Ahhh, and what might your last name be? You see- I must remember every young witch or wizard who comes through my shop. I recall Severus Snape here as a young boy, like it was just yesterday. He walked in on a sunny day, explaining different aspects of the wizarding world to young redheaded Lil-" Ollivander rambled, and Snape slowly turned more red as he spoke.
"That'll be enough, Ollivander." Snape interrupted, looking reminiscent, a little bit angry, and there was a glint of sadness in his eyes.
"Ah, I see," Began Ollivander, looking understanding. His head turned back to Lily, and he asked once again, for her last name.
"Uh, S-Star." She replied, using her middle name like she always had.
"Snape. Liliana Snape." Severus corrected resistantly, and a plethora of emotions filled Lily's heart.
Ollivander's eyes widened slightly, looking back and fourth between the father and daughter. He mumbled a quick, "I see," while he hurried away and picked up a box.
"Blackthorn, Dragon heartstring, 10 1/2 inches, quite stiff." He introduced. Lily took the wand in her hands, and looked at it. Snape looked uncomfortable at the description of the wand. Both Ollivander and Snape were staring at Lily expectingly.
"Wave it." Snape instructed, emotionally deprived as per usual.
Lily waved it, and a dark green essence zipped out of it and hit an apple, which immediately rotted.
"Nope. No no no." Ollivander said, and kept repeating 'nope,' until he placed a new wand in front of Lily, and his stunned expression faded. Lily hadn't even looked at Snape once, in fear that she'd have disappointed him.
"Applewood, Phoenix feather, 11 inches, relatively flexible." Ollivander introduced. Lily picked it up, gave it a wave, and a stack of books tumbled off the shelf. He immediately took it out of her hand, and replaced it with another.
