"Get on the train quickly we're going to be late!" Severus said in his deep voice as he rushed Lilly on to the Hogwarts Express at 10:58, right before the train was due to start. She skipped up the steps, looking for whichever friend she could find first. She passed Neville Longbottom, Seamus, and Dean, but she wasn't close to them, so after some catching up, she moved on.

"Lilly!" Pansy yelled, and she immediately felt a body press against hers. "C'mon, I saved you a seat." Pansy added, and grabbed Lilly's hand, leading her into a compartment.

"I thought you were going to get Crabbe and Goyle?" Malfoy asked. "I brought someone better." Pansy smiled, and brought Lilly into the compartment.

"Lilly!" Blaise greeted happily. She sat next to Pansy and across from Draco and Blaise. In the compartment next to them, sat Rosemary Rootley, Daphne Greengrass, Theo Nott, and Crabbe and Goyle.

She was going to ask them if they'd seen Harry, Ron, or Hermione, but thought it would be better if she didn't. It was quiet for a moment.

"What do you guys plan on doing when you get older?" Draco asked. "Because my father says i'll be in the ministry of magic." He boasted.

"We're too young to have to care about that." Lily sighed.

"We're twelve. We're not that young." Draco said defensively.

"Yes we are, stupid. Now give me a chocolate frog." she said.

Draco tolled his eyes and tossed a chocolate frog over to Lily, who munched on it happily.

"Pansy, did you see that?" Lily whispered to her friend, as they sat watching the sorting ceremony take place.

"See what?" She whispered back, looking at he windows which Lily was squinting at. Draco elbowed her to stop talking, and it because clear why. Ginny Weasley was next to be sorted, and he wanted to see what house she'd be in.

"GRYFFINDOR!" The Sorting Hat roared, to which Malfoy rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

"Typical. The whole Weasley family, a waste of Pureblood." He sighed.

"Calm down queen Draco." Lily mumbled sarcastically.

About halfway through the meal, after all the Slytherins had their share of mashed potatoes, their hair started sticking up in all directions, turning scarlet and gold, the Gryffindor house colors. Though as they all started to notice this, they also noticed that Lily's hair hadn't turned at all.

Fred and George stood up and high-fived from
their seats at the Gryffindor table. The Slytherins, in all of their angry chatter, noticed this, and Lily looked at then questioningly.

Fred gave her a quick wink and a small laugh escaped his lips, referring to her normal hair, contrasting the rest of Slytherin house.

"You're hair probably didn't change because it's too thick and greasy." Crabbe pointed out angrily. Lily flicked her long black hair behind her shoulder.

"Thick hair is a good thing, Crabbe, and at least I have hair." She giggled. Draco frowned angrily. Not angry at Lily, but angry at his hair being red and gold.

"How come your hair didn't change?" He complained.

"House Unity is a good thing for many reasons, Draco." She giggled.

Madame Pomfrey stood up from her seat and the head table, mumbling incantations under her breath and circling her wand around the Slytherin table. Then, Lily noticed that Professor Snape wasn't in his seat, but stalking back to the head a table through the middle of the hall. Far behind him, sheepishly, Ron and Harry walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat down just as the Slytherins hair returned
to normal.

"God what have they done this time?" Lily
mumbled. Draco smirked.

"Hopefully something that will get them expelled." He laughed. Pansy and the rest of the Slytherins chuckled at his statement, but Lily did not. Instead, she rolled her eyes.

"C'mon Lily, you don't honestly think Weasley and Potter are better off staying? They're the worst things to happen to Hogwarts, besides Dumbledore."  Draco scoffed.

"I'm not sure what you have against them all besides blood status, or why you care so much about blood status, but I plan on finding out, Draco Malfoy." Lily huffed. Crabbe and Goyle glanced up at Draco, to which he responded by trying to communicate with facial expressions.

"Gross, he trusts them more then he trusts me." She whispered to Pansy. Pansy seemed to be conflicted, and sighed.

"Some things, people are better off not knowing, Lily." She said kindly as she cut up her potatoes.
