41: Changes

I know I can't keep this forever when my body has started to change to accomodate the growing human inside me. I would go to check ups alone. I stopped counting days waiting for Gregg.

I constantly go to the bistro and eat my favorite, no my baby's favorite. Hal gave me a questioning look. I never ordered it for myself before. She also noticed my body changes, make comments here and there but she's too busy to ask me I guess. Difficult times happen when I have this uncalled for midnight cravings.

Tonight, I am so uneasy and hungry. I scrunched through the fridge and pantry hoping to find something palatable.
I am so desperate for food. It is in the middle of the night but I couldn't find something. I couldn't go to the 24/7 stores since I don't have a car and I am too afraid to get a cab.

I have one choice left. I'll go to Hal's room which is going to be quite a walk since it's on the other end of the building from my room. Well, it's more bearable than going out. I called her phone as I walked. After few attempts she picked it up. -"Sorry to disturb you Hal, I am at your door. I'm outside your room." I said shivering from the night cold. "Aevey!" She yawned just as she answered me. "I'll be there in a sec."

Her hair was messy and her eyes were red but not in a bad way, just an evidence that I woke her up. "Come on in." She gestured and made my way in. She turned the light on and we sat at her living room. -"Do you have food?" I blurted out shamelessly. She bursted out laughing but stopped herself afraid she might wake her daughter up. "You could have borrowed money from me you know!" she said with sincerity. -"No, it's not that. I just, I couldn't find something from my pantry. I hate this sudden cravings." I said and the last words more to myself. "She eyed me up and then something must've hit her, her eyes widened as she held my shoulders turning me to face her. "Tell me honestly." She looked at me eye to eye. "Are you pregnant?" She finally asked. Thinking there's no excuse that would cover up I admitted. -"Yeah, 4 weeks!" I said while biting my lower lip. She squeaked in excitement but right away gained back her composure as I reminded her of our current situation. "So, who's the father?"

Her question got me feeling sad all of a sudden. I don't think I can answer her question right now. I felt ashamed of myself. She noticed my expression and quickly apologized but I assured her it's not that big of a deal. -"I can't tell you just yet!" I told her which she completely understands. I don't exactly know what I was craving for so she helped me go through with her pantry and fridge and finally found it. -"Blueberry cheesecake!" I exclaimed and gulped in excitement.

I didn't stay long at Hal's place, she let me bring the whole piece she had left and I went back to my room. My appetite has tripled ever since I found out I was pregnant. The morning sickness was gone, thankfully; but was later shifted to cravings. I finished all the slices in one round and my craving is satisfied I was able to fall a sleep in peace.

It's Saturday morning, I'm free from work today and I have not planned anything ahead. So I made myself some breakfast and watch local news.

Newsfalsh: Business section- Oumrris-Takk company merge is finally signed today. I could spot one familiar word. I stopped eating my breakfast trying to remember which word and where I've heard of it. Then I remembered, Greggor Oumrris, that's his full name. The report showed men shaking hands but I don't see Gregg anywhere. I stopped watching. It has finally happened, and the marriage will soon take place.
