-"I'm sorry doc, I must've misheard it. Can you say it again?" I asked her hoping it is just the sickness that's making a toll on me.
"You are fine Aevey, you heard it right. You are almost 3 weeks in gestation." She said sounding straight and clear. "Don't stress yourself, ok? I need to go." She left me with tachycardia, my heart is beating abnormally fast as I try to process all that she said.
This is not right, this is not the surprise I want for my birthday. What will I tell my parents? I can't tell them Gregg's the father. He's no show, I don't know what got into him. I have told my mom that he was getting married too. I don't see myself as a mother soon but I cannot have an abortion. The baby has nothing to do with my carelessness that I miscalculated my period.
I can't tell them now, it's not the right time yet. This shall be a secret for myself to keep for a while until I have finally decided what to do with the pregnancy.
I wasn't able to finish my shift but gladly I was discharged on the same day. I tried to act normal like nothing is going on inside me. The meal will be ready in an hour and most of my invited guests are here. My parents, close relatives, friends and some of my workmates. Not all of them can come since they also have prior appointments. I told my workmates not tell my parents about what happened to me earlier today.
I am hoping that I wouldn't be put in a difficult situation this time, I don't have enough strength to deal with it any more today. Everyone is busy enjoying their meal and a short live presentation from the local band we hired. Playing soft and subtle musics. I went to my guests to say thank you for the time they shared with me and what nots about the celebration. The night went by smoothly, thank God!
The band vocalist tried to hit on me and asked for my contact number. I gave it to him not giving it much thought. My guests one by one left the party since it's getting midnight they still have to drive home. My parents wanted to stay with me to help. I couldn't think of an excuse to decline their offer. There's a big chance that the sickness will be back tomorrow or the following days. And my mom, being my mom would know it. But Hal gladly said, she got it. So they went home and gave me the biggest and tightest hug they could ever give. I love them both and there is no doubt about their love for me. Hopefully they will forgive me for hiding something from them not that I want to lie but I just can't tell them, not yet. I still have to sort things out between me and my baby's father.
The morning sickness is here again as expected but I am more calm this time knowing what it is. I didn't notice, my breasts have started to grow and a small lump started to form on my usual flat belly.
I tried to contact Gregg once more but still he can't be reached. I tried to email him but his been inactive for almost a month.
If he is not going to contact me in 2 days, I will never tell him about the baby. I have decided to push through with my pregancy. I felt sad for my baby for not having a father but I can't let him be when he is acting like this. When he didn't bother to reply from my texts or return my calls.
Three days past the timeline I gave him; still no news from him. I still didn't tell anyone about my pregnancy, not even my workmates. They asked me about what has happened and made up an excuse to cover my secret.
