A Kiss of Goodbye

22: Through The Rain

                I didn't notice it had been raining outside. Looks like my emotion is conspiring with the weather. Good thing I didn't have to wait too long to get a cab.

                  I am shivering inside although I am not wet. Am I really easy to fool? -"You should've stood him up instead. That would be more evident that you no longer wanted to deal with him. You rode 30 mins all the way there."All the pain he caused you should be enough warning.

                   Deep inside me wants to forget all that happened in the past. He's just a college boy then wanting to play around.

                    How could I be defending his actions??? He cheated on me, he made me wait. He made me believe he loved me. I wasted my time with him. Try to look around Aevey, there are plenty of men out there. Don't be stuck with him again or you will waste your time again.

                  I thought for a moment and realize, I can't waste my outfit. There's not enough reason to be locking myself alone in the room. -"Ahm, sorry sir but I've changed my mind. Can you place take me to [Daily Bistro] please." "No problem ma'am" -"Thanks!" I'd still be on time for lunch.

                   As usual, the bistro is packed with hungry diners and I happen to be one of them. I went in, and Brien sees me right away through the glass door as I was scanning the place and motioned me to get in. He was talking to someone but excused himself. There's no way I could get a seat, there's too many customers.

                  "Hey Aevey! I'm sorry if I couldn't give you a nice spot for you to have your meal as of the moment. The crowd is so crazy right now. We've been serving non stop for more than 2 hours." -"I could really see that. But it's not really a problem for me, I can wait and there's no need for you to apologise."

                        And he sparked with an idea. "But if you wouldn't mind, there's one vacant seat over there." He pointed to the man whom he was talking with a while ago. "That's my friend, he's alone so maybe you could share table with?" He said unsure about the idea but I don't want to be a burden so I agreed to his suggestion.

                  I followed Brien to his friend's table then he tapped his friend and said something to him. "Sure man, it's fine by me." "Thanks man."

               "So Aevey, this is my friend Gre" -"Gregg?" I said in surprise. He was doing something on his phone so he wasn't able to see me as I approached the other seat. He looked up in surprise as well.

              "Aevey! Ahhh,, hi?" "What's goin', you guys know each other?" -"You too are friends?" I said as I look at Brien then Gregg and vice versa. He suddenly stood up upon realizing the situation from his seat while fixing his shirt.

                There's this awkward silence going on between the three of us. "Yeah, I know Aevey." He looked at Brien to answer his question then looked at me. "And yes, Brien's my friend. I was visiting him that day I saw you again and was in his room when someone came looking for me and accidentally entered your r.." As if sensing where it's heading. "Right, I got it there's no need to go on full details." I glared at him as I said it hastily.

                  "Uhemmmm. [Brien coughed from the side] Ahhhm...I guess there's no need for introduction?? so I... (looked between me and Gregg) better get back to the counter to help out." He said it in a playful smile.  [Service please for table 14] someone called out from the counter. "That's my call guys, be back at you." Brien said as he retreat from our table.
