"What? Why so soon?" My mom raised her voice as soon as she heard me about our plan. I have agreed about the marriage to take place now. It's wild and exciting. I requested Gregg that I want to at least wear something decent for photo purposes which he agreed without second thought. -"Mom, we don't want to waste our time planning and we want to spend tomorrow and the rest of our lives together as husband and wife." I reasoned out repeating Gregg's which totally made sense.
Knowing that I have already made up my mind. My parents got no choice but to support my decision. "You're a big girl now Aevey. And I know you are smart and wise. If that is your decision we have no right to disagree and will support you instead." My father replied, taking away the phone from my mom. Although she has given me her blessings but annoyance was evident in her tone. "We love you and we will see you this afternoon."
"Wow, Aevey! That's impulsive but I find it exciting. Congrats gurl!" Hal said when I broke the news to her. -"I know! Thanks!" I said in a higher tone. "Let me take care of the foods." She added in. -"You don't have to Hal, just wanted you to be here with me on my surprise, well more of an unplanned wedding day. Just wear something comfy." I told her sincerely. "Okay, but let me bring some cupcakes and your wedding cake!" -"Yayy! Thank you Hal but really there's no need." "No, no. This conversation is over, I'm bringing you cake and cupcakes." And then she hang up.
Hal is my best friend and today is a special day for me so as much as possible I want everyone special to me to be our witness. Although I am fully aware that it couldn't be possible considering it's so sudden they might have prior appointments already.
It's already 2:00 pm and the wedding will happen in an hour. We have asked the hospital's management if we could use the room as our wedding venue. Gregg offered to pay extra but they declined it and gave us the permission with one condition, "don't make it loud and disturb other occupants" the manager said.
We rearranged the room and decorated it with red and white roses. The room is spacious so it should not be too confining for us 13 people. Brien wanted to attend but he's stuck in an important meeting so only Hal has helped us set things up and she's true to her words she brought lovely cupcakes and a beautifully decorated cake of a decent size.
Gregg found an elegant white lacy dress that could pass as a wedding dress that perfectly fit me. I quickly changed to it and did soft make up and fixed my hair to look presentable. My parents walked me from the door to the bedside where the mayor is standing facing me while Gregg has his back facing us talking to him unaware that I am already in action. We set up a camera that would cover the ceremony. It's been 2 mins past 3pm so I decided to start it not informing him. Everyone was quiet besides him, laughing and talking to the mayor.
-"Ahhemm!" I forcefully cleared my throat, he jolted and turned to face me; nervousness, anxiousness and excitement all plastered on his face. Our eyes met, in awe of each other's reflection. "You are beautiful my love." He started. I smiled -"You don't look bad yourself either." I joked. My parents are still at my side listening to our convo while everyone are patiently waiting at the back. -"We shouldn't keep our guests more so the mayor waiting, should we?" It must've hit his senses. "Oh!" He face palmed. "Right, I'm sorry." His face is now flushed as he looked around. He looked at my parents as his eyes are now glistening. Mrs. Dounhil, Mr. Dounhil, sir, I promise to dedicate my life and take good care of your daughter. My father then shook his hand and my parents kissed my cheek one last time before they hand me to him.
