Phoenix wrapped her arm around Chris's torso as they examined the stack of boxes in the middle of their apartment. "I can't believe we're moving."
"I know."
"If you're not feeling L.A., we can always move back." She reminded. "I'm only happy if you're happy."
"Don't worry about me." Chris responded. "I'm happy to move for the love of my life."
"Babe, I told you not to give me another heart attack for at least a few days." Phoenix spoke after dramatically clutching her chest. Because Chris was such a naturally sweet man, he would constantly say the most cute and romantic things, causing Phoenix to have a 'heart attack' as she called it. Even after years, she couldn't handle how charming he was.
"I strive to give you at least one heart attack a day." He chuckled before bending down to pick up both Dodger and Ghost's leashes. "We should get going."
"Goodbye Manhattan." Phoenix spoke while looking back at her empty apartment one last time. It was as if the city was bidding her a farewell with the sound of honking cars, sirens, and people walking and talking on the streets.
"Phoenix." Chris called as he stood in the doorway, waiting for her. "We've gotta get to the airport babe. Downey's jet won't wait for us forever."
Phoenix nodded and jogged to the door Chris was holding open with one hand.
After exiting, she kept her eyes on Ghost as he pranced right behind Dodger, who was trying his hardest not to walk ahead of Chris. At first, she wasn't sure how Dodger would react to a new dog at home but it didn't take him but a few days to completely embrace the new pup. He was constantly sharing his favorite lion toy with Ghost which made Phoenix's heart flutter.
"Chris?"
He stopped in place and spun around so he was facing Phoenix before she caught up with he, Ghost, and Dodger. "Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too princess." Chris smiled, taking a hold of her hand. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah... I've just been thinking about some things."
"Talk to me. Tell me what's going on."
"You do know that I want to marry you, right?" Phoenix asked as they approached the car.
"I know." Chris assured while opening the passenger side door for her. He then opened the back door, allowing the dogs to jump in before heading to the driver's side.
"I just don't want you to think I've changed my mind about it." She added after Chris made himself comfortable in his seat.
"Even if you did change your mind, that would be perfectly okay. I don't want you to feel obligated to do anything you don't want to."
Phoenix sighed. "I know it bothers you that every time we talk about getting married, I make a joke of it or find some other way to change the subject... I don't realize I'm doing it half the time and I'm sorry. I'm ready to be serious about it."
"This isn't just because we're moving to L.A. is it?" He looked over at her. "I don't want you to raise the stakes because you feel like you have to. We're moving because it's what's best for us. If you're still not ready, that's perfectly fine Phoenix."
"But I am." She replied. "I'm ready to be Genevieve Phoenix Evans."
"Genevieve Phoenix Benali-Evans." Chris squeezed her hand. "You can be both a Benali and an Evans."
"I would love that."
"So Miss Benali, let's say hypothetically that I proposed to you tomorrow, when would you want to get married?"
