"Tom?" Phoenix spoke quietly as she poked her head into the guest room closest to hers and Chris's bedroom.
Tom sat up straight at the sight of Phoenix standing in the doorway which gave Ghost the permission he needed to jump onto the bed and bombard Tom with dog kisses. He couldn't help but to grin as he scratched behind the white husky's ear. "He's just a ball of energy."
"He's Tom Holland in dog form." Phoenix joked. "That's why we love him so much."
"I wouldn't even mind being mind being replaced by this little buddy." He responded. "Where's Dodger?"
"Sleeping. He really only follows me when Chris is gone." Phoenix answered. "He's probably laying in my spot right now actually, cuddling with Chris. But I can't even be mad, they are both precious."
"A good dog cuddle can get you through the day."
"Absolutely." She agreed. "But how's your head? How are you feeling?"
"A lot better than last night." He answered. "Thank you for letting me crash here. I really appreciate it."
"Of course! Chris and I were worried that you'd gotten a concussion." She revealed. "There's no way we would've sent you back to your hotel."
"You two are angels."
"Well, Chris is the real angel. Are you hungry? Do you want some coffee or juice? Maybe some eggs or toast?"
"I'll take some toast." Tom nodded before standing to his feet.
He tried his best to avoid looking at Phoenix too much as they walked to the kitchen. The last thing he needed was to be reminded of the dream he had the night prior. He didn't understand why it had been so difficult to get over the feelings he had for her, so much so that he had looked into therapy. He knew it was unfair to himself and Phoenix to harbor feelings that would lead absolutely nowhere. He even had his friends set him up on group dates with women they knew so he could push himself to move on.
Thanks to his brother, he had found a woman who peaked his interest, which he mentioned to Phoenix the day of their 'almost' kiss. However, last night felt like a complete step backwards. How could he in good conscious try to develop a real relationship when his heart belonged to someone else? His subconscious was so caught up on Phoenix that it was creating ridiculous dreams and scenarios that'd never come true.
"We only have wheat." Phoenix spoke while opening the bamboo breadbox that sat on the countertop and taking out a couple pieces of bread. "I'm going to open the cabinet so watch your head, dork."
Tom laughed as she popped the bread in the toaster, getting a plate from the cabinet above them afterwards. "Thanks for the heads up. What would I do without you?"
"I ask myself that same question everyday." She replied while gesturing for Tom to follow her into the living room. On the way, she opened the curtains to let the sun light fill the room before plopping down in the chair across from where Tom now sat on the couch.
"What do you have planned for today?"
"Just going to the beach with some friends; doing some filming later." Phoenix answered. "You're totally welcome to come if you want."
"Oh, that's okay. I've got some meetings with my-" Tom cut himself off the second a figure entered his peripheral vision. As if instinctively, he turned his head slightly to make out the figure only to find a naked man entering the kitchen. "Wow, I just saw Chris Evans's tallywhacker."
"His what?" Phoenix turned around so she and Tom were facing the same direction. It didn't take but a second for her to spot Chris scavenging through the refrigerator naked with Dodger not far behind. "Oh yeah, he loves being nude."
