Shoutout to @dawsonms 🥳

"Hi." Phoenix spoke the second Cynthia opened the front door. She was currently on Chris's back, who had given her a piggy back ride all the way from the car up the driveway and the stairs leading to the front porch of her father's house.

"Christopher! It's been too long!" Phoenix's mother greeted with a genuine smile as she pulled him into a side hug, making sure to include her daughter as well. When she pulled away, she noticed a shiny piece of hardware on Phoenix's finger that wasn't there when she visited earlier that month.

"It has been too long." Chris agreed. Because he was holding Phoenix's legs, he was unable to give Cynthia a full hug. "It's so nice to see you again."

"Let's cut right to the chase, shall we?" Cynthia cleared her throat while gesturing for the couple to come inside.

It didn't take long for Phoenix to spot her father, who was sitting on the couch reading a law book - per usual. "Dad!"

At the sound of his daughter's voice, Richard closed the book and stood to his feet. "Why do you have this man carrying you around everywhere like you don't have two feet?"

"I don't mind." Chris assured with laugh. "She's not very heavy."

"They're in love, Richie!" Cynthia defended. "This is how they show it."

Richard pushed his glasses down to make direct eye contact with his daughter. "What happened to spider boy? I thought you were in love with him?"

"Well for one, Tom is just my friend." Phoenix clarified. "And two, Chris and I are very much in love and we're getting married."

"You're getting married, huh?" Richard responded nonchalantly before plopping back down in his chair and opening his book once again. "Congrats."

"That doesn't sound very genuine." Phoenix rolled her eyes. "You can put me down Chris."

"Okay." Chris nodded before gently placing her on the floor. He had no clue what was going on in that moment but the one thing he did know was that he couldn't hide his growing awkwardness.

"Oh my god!" Cynthia's mouth dropped as soon as Phoenix stepped around Chris. She knew instantly that her daughter was pregnant; and although she didn't visibly look pregnant, Phoenix definitely gave off the ambience of a pregnant woman. "You're pregnant! You've gotta be, what, 7 or 8 weeks by now."

"Out of 8 billion people, I had to end up with the mom who is a fucking witch and knows everything." Phoenix mumbled under her breath as Chris placed a hand on the small of her back.

Richard closed his book and stood up for the second time as soon as pregnancy was mentioned. "You're pregnant Genevieve?"

"I am." She confirmed, nervous to hear what her fathers reaction would be.

With a smile, Richard approached Phoenix and pulled her into a long hug. She could feel his excitement in the way he held her which gave her instant relief about her situation. Knowing that he was accepting of her pregnancy, although he didn't seem too excited about her engagement to Chris, made her happy.

"Congratulations babygirl!" Richard smiled after pulling away. He then moved on to shake Chris's hand. "You're a good man Christopher. I trust you'll take care of my daughter and grandchild."

"I definitely will."

"When's the baby due?" Cynthia asked while giving Chris another hug. "And when's the wedding?"

"We don't know about the wedding yet." Phoenix answered. "But the baby is due in early June."

"Adding another Gemini to the clan, are we?" Cynthia grinned. "You just can't get rid of us, can you?"
