Chapter 10

You sneak back in through the window and come face to face with Annabeth. She immediately starts asking questions.

"Why were you out so late? Why were you with Nico? I thought you liked Percy. Are you and Nico a thing now?"

"Woah. Slow down. One question at a time." You whisper to prevent others from waking up.

"Ok. Why were you outside with Nico?" You tried to read her expression but you could barely see her face in the darkness.

You think for a few seconds before responding. "We were just talking."

"At," Annabeth looks at the clock, "two in the morning?"

"Yeah. Why do you care so much?" you were frustrated. Why did Annabeth care? She was just so mad at you earlier.

"Are you two together now? You're going to get hurt. I don't trust him. You guys pretty much hated each other until last week."

"Again, why do you care? It's not your business. Besides, don't you want your revenge for me 'stealing' Percy and somehow making him break up with you?" you say in a passive aggressive tone.

"Listen, I was thinking about it and you're right, it doesn't make sense that you could make someone break up with someone. I don't know who to believe, but that doesn't mean I don't care about you. You're my sister. And I'm telling you, I don't think it's a good idea."

"You can't control what I do. I can date who I want to," you say with a sigh. "It's late and we're going to wake everyone up. Goodnight, I'm going to sleep."

"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you. Goodnight."

You take off the shoes and sweatshirt that you put on to go outside and get into bed. What is your life?
