Mean glared.
He couldn't help it. As much as he wanted to remind himself that he should keep himself together, he couldn't do it.
The lights at Gravity were thankfully dim and the club was still full with Plan's surprising hordes of fans – surprising for Plan. Mean could have told him this would happen if he kept using that photo app the way he did, while being a member of White Hand – but Plan wouldn't have believed him, anyway.
As much as his boyfriend claimed to have accepted that he was here now, as much as he had actually embraced the opportunities his scholarship afforded him – deep down, Plan still seemed to think that he didn't really deserve all the buzz around him.
But Mean wasn't glaring because of the fans – he could deal with them; he had a fair share of dedicated followers himself and most of them were respectful and sweet to him, and were much too timid to make a move.
No, after signing autographs and posing for pictures for more than two hours, Plan had decided to retire to the safety of the VIP area – but so far, he hadn't made it to the White Hand table, where Mean was sitting alone with Win. Plan kept getting interrupted by people who wanted to talk to him – Mean could see that he was tired – and now...
He was talking to Vic.
Vic.
Mean remembered.
Of course he remembered; how Viola's brother had cornered him, had told him he liked boys... and that he would make a pass at Plan if Mean didn't go for him first.
What were they talking about?
He wouldn't... damn, of course Vic would.
But Plan wouldn't... would he?
Why hadn't he gotten rid of Vic already?
Plan had been so good at escaping Mean, before they had gotten together, why would he still talk to Vic if he didn't want to?
Mean knew that he could just go over and join their conversation, casually, he was the leader of White Hand and Plan was a member, nothing suspicious about it... but damn, why was this so complicated?
What if he ended up exposing their secret, because he just couldn't keep it to himself anymore?
Honestly, how were the girls doing it? Hiding a relationship in plain sight like that?
Even now that Mean knew about them, he could rarely see any signs.
Viola had already scolded him for the stunt he had pulled with the Herbie Hancock concert – somehow, she had figured out that this had a special meaning to Plan and him, and while she hadn't said anything during the event, she had taken him aside the next day and had told him to be more discreet for heaven's sake.
She didn't even officially know they were together.
But she did.
Of course.
Damn, why was this sleazy guy leaning towards Plan now?
Plan wouldn't...
Mean thought he knew his boyfriend well enough already to know that he wouldn't just abandon him for someone else like that. But... he might also be the kind of person who didn't realize someone was flirting with him.
In Mean's eyes, it was obvious.
Vic was definitely flirting.
"Aren't you going to do something?"
