Plan could get used to this, kissing Mean in his private recording studio and playing music with him.
He was still trying to process how different it felt kissing Mean than kissing Win. With Win, it had been light and soft, like a cool summer breeze on a heated day. But Mean... there was weight to it, hints of something deeper, something both scary and alluring that confused him, and yet he couldn't get enough of it.
"What are we gonna do now?" he asked regardless, when they paused for air again. He had lost count on how many times they had pulled away and dove right in anew, "about... us?"
Were they dating?
Or was this just something Mean had wanted to experiment with?
In here, it was alright; it felt good; it felt better than anything he had expected.
But out there, the world was scary.
"I don't know."
Plan didn't know either.
No matter how he tried to look at it - all the options were various shades of scary and he preferred to just return to kissing, instead of thinking about the future. But it was getting late and tomorrow would be another day full of study, research, and desperate attempts to evade unwanted attention.
"Maybe I should call Viola," Mean mused, and was already fishing for his phone.
"Why?"
Plan found it a bit strange that Mean would involve others from White Hand in this already - but he also had to concede that Mean knew this world better than he, and he was scared shitless by the spotlight as it was.
"She usually knows what to do..." Mean was shifting around a bit nervously, "also... she's been dating Rose right under all our noses for months... if someone knows how to pull that off, it's her."
"Does that mean you want to date me?"
"Don't you?"
It was surprising to hear how much insecurity Mean's voice betrayed. Plan still needed to come to terms with the fact that Mean didn't just like him back, he obviously really liked him back.
"I don't just randomly kiss boys all evening, if I don't want to date them," Plan answered drily.
"You never know."
That was true - they didn't know each other that well. But the idea of just kissing random guys was so far out of his comfort zone, that he hadn't even thought about it. He was glad to get a sense that it was the same for Mean.
By now, he was pretty sure Mean hadn't kissed anyone before. There was just something about the way he had been overwhelmed by everything that made him look adorably lost even now.
"Wait...," thinking about Mean's idea of calling Viola, the fact that she was dating Rose, "... is everyone in White Hand gay?"
Mean laughed.
"I didn't know, either."
"But is it true?"
Mean nodded.
"Well, your ex says he's bi, but... no straights."
"You could have told me that first, I wouldn't have been so reluctant to join."
Mean rolled his eyes.
At first, Plan thought it was about him and he was a bit upset about it. Then, Mean explained:
"I couldn't have told you. I didn't know it, because these girls kept it a secret. But like I said - that's why we need to call Viola. She managed to stealth everyone for months, she can help us."
