Luke's POV:
I hit the box of the cigarettes, and one goes out about halfway. I pick it up by my lips, closing them to hold the stick. I light mine, taking a puff and blowing it out to my side. "Here." I say, and light the cigarette for her. She puffs and smiles up at me, "Thanks." I nod at her as I lean on the wall while she's sitting on the stairs. I've never really seen her around the building before, maybe she just moved in. I look down at the girl already seeing her grinning at me. "What." I snap, and roll my eyes. She lifts her head and blows the smoke, giving her a badass look. She stands up, throwing her stick to the floor before walking up the stairs. "That was a waste." I say when I see her cigarette barely halfway finished. "Sorry asshole, I didn't want to stay out here with you." I turn, and see her casually opening the lobby door. Being the guy I am, I skim her body before turning my attention to the gray smoke in front of me. "Hey, have you seen a girl here who smokes, and is a brunette?" A guy asks me as he comes up to my face. Is he talking about the girl a few minutes ago? "No, sorry." I kind of smile, and walk back inside the building. "Did he ask for me?" The girl who called me an asshole asks. "Yeah." I nod, pressing the button for the elevator. "Did he say anything else?" She asks another question. She's already annoying me, damn. "Look, I don't know who you are or the guy is. I honestly don't care either, your business is not mine. So lets not talk to each other about our personal life." I say before walking inside the elevator. "Okay." She whispers, I don't know why but it sounded lost or broken? I don't care, she isn't my problem, I have my own problems like getting out of this dealing job.
I plop down on the couch, and put my feet up on the coffee table. I click through the channels until I find something interesting, everything's boring though. "Stop! Get off of me you prick!" I hear from outside my door, can't I get some peace around here? I stomp to the door and open it, "Can you please shut the hell up! I'm trying to rest!" I scream. The man from outside is holding the girl from earlier at the lobby. "Let go of her." I strongly say, getting protective for some reason. "She's not yours." He smirks before pushing her next to my door. "She isn't yours either man." I say and stand in front of the girl. "Go inside." I whisper to her, nodding to my place. She quickly nods, and carefully slides away from me to the door. He tries to grab her, but I push his hand away. "Who do you think you are?" He angrily snaps, glaring at me. "I'm just a dude trying to sleep. She doesn't want to be with you, so get the fuck out of here." I snap back, going inside my place and shutting the door. Once the door closes, I lock the door and look out the peep hole. At least he's gone, I thought I'd have to do something. "Alright, he's gone. Get out." I snap at her. I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a cranky guy. All I wanted was to rest from today, but I can't seem to. "Thanks Luke." She smiles, how does she know my name? "How do you know my name?" I cautiously ask, I don't have many friends so no one should know my name. The only ones who do know my name are from the group. "I've lived next to you for the past three years. My name's Y/N by the way." Y/N says like I should've known before closing the door. So she has been living here, that's weird. I guess I haven't been paying attention to the things or people around me. I pick up my phone and dial one of my friends numbers, "Aye Luke, what's up?" Michael asks. "Hey, do you think I can get out of this?" I hope he can answer my question without saying 'I don't know man'. The line goes silent for a few. "I don't know man. We joined this and now we can't get out until we die, we're in this forever." I roll my eyes when he says the first words, fucking hell I don't want to do this anymore. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow then." I hang up, and throw my phone against the wall. I groan, pacing around the living room. I run to my phone and pick it up. "I'm sorry." I whisper to it, at least it's not broken. I sigh, walking to the bathroom to take a hot shower. I wonder why I haven't seen Y/N around if she's been my neighbor for three years. I step into the shower and just stand there, thinking about how to get out of this gang. Maybe I can get Michael's help to get out of this, I think he wants to get out too. A knock interrupts my thoughts, and I quickly wrap a towel around my waist. I open the door to see Y/N's mouth open to say something, but glances down instead. I smirk and run my fingers through my wet hair, messily throwing it to the side. "Take a picture, it will last longer." I cockily say. She squints her eyes at me, "Nah, I don't want to see any of that anyway. They mixed up our mail." Y/N gets to the point, not keeping the conversation going. I close the door and get the mail that's on the counter, leaving her there probably annoyed. When I open the door she's rolling her eyes, and has her hand on her hip. She probably thinks I'm a jerk, I don't really give a fuck. "Here." I say and give her mail as she gives me mine. Before she goes back in her place, she flips me off. "Real classy!" I yell and shut the door. "Never said I was classy!" Her voice comes through the door. I roll my eyes and laugh, like actually laugh. Nothing forced about it or fake, she made me laugh with a small reply. I shake my head, ridding the thoughts about how sarcastic she is like me. I walk back inside the bathroom to finish my shower.
