CHAPTER 11: Surprise! Surprise!

I couldn't believe he did that last night. I felt more humiliated and felt I had enough for the night. Although I know it wasn't right that I left but I texted and Neil apologizing and they texted back telling me it was okay.

I still felt bad but they said things would be okay and to not worry because Timothy and his whore girlfriend weren't doing the activities with us today and that he apologized that he had no idea he was coming and that it had to have been his dad that asked them both to come.

I assured him I would try and ignore them both and focus on him and Neil. With that said, they mentioned that both of their parents and several other family members were joining us today and that they had a few ideas that they thought would be real fun.

So I took a shower and got ready before meeting up with them out front and getting into their car. I noticed as Neil starts to drive away, that Wade isn't here in the car with us.

"Where's Wade?" I asked trying not to make it obvious that I even cared, cause I don't.

"Oh he's gonna meet up with us. He had to do a few things." Levi says.

I felt a little bad because of how I stormed off last night upset at him and felt like I owed him an apology. Especially after Levi explained this morning to me that he didn't mean to upset me.

After pulling up in in between a few cars, we saw Levi's and Neil's parents along with several other people but still no Wade.

This place was really nice, it's almost like a swap meet meets a street market. There was food and things you could buy that the locals had made or bought and are reselling.

I loved things like this and Levi along with Neil did too and whenever they visited, we always continued going.

While walking around, we all were talking and having a good time when we heard a man announce over a microphone about some kind of a contest. So we started making our way over towards the guy who's talking and notice it's actually an eating contest.

"Alright everyone, let's see who our competitors are." He says. He then starts walking up to everyone at the table and right as he gets to the fifth and last person, I notice it's Wade? "Okay everyone, I want to introduce this guy here as he used to be one of the most competitive eaters who has won most of his challenges. He's been in hiding for the last few years but has returned. Give it up for my great friend, Wade The Tornado!"

Everyone begins cheering and some girls are even whistling along with Levi and Neil and their family. Meanwhile, although I'm a little impressed, I'm in shock.

I feel myself begin to blush as I see him look over at me smiling while winking at me. Next, the announcer asks him a question.

"So you still think you have what it takes to beat these guys? It HAS been years?!" He teases.

"Hell yeah I am. Then when I do, I'm gonna take out an amazing girl." He says as he looks my way.

"Wow, really?!" The guy asks surprised.

Wade then nods and the guy wishes him among the other competitors 'good luck' before counting down. Then as soon as he said 'GO', everybody started shoveling food in their mouths.

To be honest, I was more amused than I thought I would be. Watching them eat really fast. Although to be honest, I was more focused on Wade and watching him see how he got his nickname as he took many bites before balling it up after pouring some eater onto it and taking a drink after a couple of bites.

The time came when it was getting close to the end and as the crowd started counting down to 1, the eaters were trying really hard to force more food into their mouths when a air horn went off to indicate it was over.

All the competitors had their mouths filled up to the fullest and looked like they had chipmunk cheeks while they continued to chew and swallow.

Wade looked to be the only one that wasn't phased or looked like he was miserably full like the others as he drank the water.

"Alright, we have a winner! It's my good buddy, Wade The Tornado! For eating the most! Let's hear it for him!" The guy shouts and everybody including me. Claps and cheers.

"Way to go Wade!" Levi yells out.

"Okay everyone, technically Wade would win this money of $800 but he told us to split it up between the competitors." He announces and then starts distributing the money.

While the guy did that, Wade looked over at me and was shaking people's hands and thanking people as they congratulated him.

For some reason, I began to feel a little nervous the closer he got to me.

There were a few girls that tried to get his attention, 'Food Groupies' or whatever they're called but he ignored them and came walking up towards me.

"Damn, you really can eat." I chuckle to myself.

"Oh yeah." He winks. "But I wanted you to see this because although I had Levi text you this morning to try and tell you about how I never meant to make fun of you or anything, and the fact you probably felt embarrassed, I thought I would show you my embarrassing secret." He laughs a little.

"THAT'S an embarrassing secret to you? I thought that was impressive." I comment.

"Thanks." He smiles. "Well, since I won. What time do you want to go out tonight?" He asks with so much confidence before taking the last few gulps of his water.

"I never agreed to that." I smiled at him teasing him a bit.

"You got jokes huh?" He smiles.

I just shrug and then remember that tonight we were gonna go somewhere with Levi, Neil and their family tonight.

"Wait, we can't." I started. "Tonight is..." I was then interrupted by Levi.

"You guys go and have fun tonight. It's just gonna be some boring family thing." He teases.

"Hey!" His mom says as she lightly smacks him in the chest playfully.

"I'm just kidding." He tells her.

"Great! Then it's settled." Wade replies.

We all start heading off and walking around more before going out to lunch.

I haven't been on a date in a long time. Even when I was with Timothy, he rarely took me out in public. I hope I don't embarrass myself.
