Elton was helping his grandmother lock up the library as he noticed a table labelled 'For Sale'.

"Hey, Gran. What's this for?" Elton gestures to the table.
"Oh Elty, these books are so old, no one has checked them out in years, I need space for new books..." Elton's grandma shakes her head as she locks the cash register.

One book, in particular, catches Elton's eye, it's the same book that Colby was looking at the night they stayed overnight. "Hey, Gran? Is it okay if I take this one?" He holds the book up for her to see.
"Sure Elty, now hurry up, wheel of fortune starts soon," She tells him as she hurried out the door Elton quickly slides The Ocean Mythology book Into his bag.

"So you nearly burnt your house down?" Corey asks curiously.
"Yeah I know right" Sam jokes as I sigh.

"It literally stopped in seconds, calm down" I roll my eyes at their overreaction.

"Well, I have something that could help us. LOOK WHAT I SCORED!" Elton slaps the Ocean Mythology book down on the lunch table during.

Corey begins to choke on his sandwich because of the sudden loud sound. He coughs it out before saying: "Elton Jesus what the heck?".

"You got the... The book?" I ask curiously, reaching over and taking it for examination

"So you're saying I'm a pyro?" I ask Elton as he nods his head. It's been a couple of days since Elton snatched that book, and he's read it at least twice. "But I thought it took a long ass time for a mer to develop powers?".

"Some develop them earlier than others" He shrugs, and adds "So have you tried using them since?".

"Oh, heck no man... First I lose my legs, I don't wanna lose my house too brother" I shake my head as I imagine the next time I use those powers, something accidentally catching fire and it catches my ENTIRE HOUSE ON FIRE!

"Why don't we try again in someplace that's not your house?" Elton suggests.

"Corey's house?" I ask in a deadpan tone.
"Yes, yes Colby, we're not gonna burn down your house but we'll burn down Corey's?" Elton squints his eyes at me, I laugh as a response. Elton rolls his eyes playfully and says "Don't worry, I've got a plan" He smirks.

"This is crazy, out in the middle of a public area?" I ask as I look around us at the beach where this all started, just one crazy school trip leads to me being a fire fish boy.

"No you moron, we're gonna go back to that hecken cave where this all happened," Elton says as he gestures to me.

"But how are we going to find the entrance again? It was hard enough the first time..." My voice drifts off as I remember the struggle it was to hike through that forest. We take a couple more steps until we're just at the water's edge when Elton says:

"Yeah but that's not the only entrance" and with that, he pushes me into the water.

~

It took me a hot second to realize that he meant going through the underwater entrance, which I was totally fine with if he had just told me instead of pushing me into the ocean in front of everyone that was there. But I quickly swam further out after transforming and waited for Elton to join me in his swim trunks. Good thing the beach was basically empty, aside from one elderly man who was fishing.

Once Elton joined me we just kinda floated for a minute before he raised his eyebrows and said: "Lead the way, Ariel". I rolled my eyes playfully as I dived down and started swimming. I glanced back behind me and saw Elton making his way (Downtown) towards me, so I kept going, hoping he could catch up and not run out of air.
