Chapter 41: Betrayal

"This won't take long." Lucy whispered to herself as she glanced at the painted white and golden mansion. The blond-headed woman looked over her shoulder and nodded.

"I can't tell you how many times I'm sorry. I needed the money for school. You have to explain Lucy. You can't tell her," Levy quivered to herself, pleading at what was supposed to be her best friend.

Lucy had found out. She had realized how Fairy Tail was attacked. She wasn't stupid enough to not realize how her own servants. She believed that her mother clearly wanted her attention if they were to hide in practically plain sight—and of course she was going to get it. It was only a matter of time before the woman would place two and two together to realize that her dear old mother had connections with someone close to her if those dear old servants had contact with her. Levy was that connection.

"You know you could've asked me to get the money. Yet you continued to do business with that woman. You are what most people called..." Lucy sighed to herself as she turned her head towards the blue haired girl, "a disappointment". The small woman could say nothing but stare. She knew what she has done could never be changed.

"I.." Levy began to spoke, but as soon as her eyes met the opposing brown ones, she knew that whatever came out of her mouth next would not be good, "I'll be on my way now." Levy turned around and left, her only option was to retreat now. If her friendship with Lucy was to be saved, it would not be through her own reasonings or pleadings.

"Ah, Ms. Lucy you're here. We've been expecting you," A pink haired maid called as she walked through those grand golden brown doors. It was true, Virgo had silently kept to herself about her feelings in regards to Lucy. But in reality, she loved having that golden haired girl running around. She enjoyed having the presence of someone who she believed to not be corrupt as those she had see before, she had hope that that same golden haired girl would be able to cleanse just a little bit of the darkness created by her past. Lucy was not tainted her eyes. Lucy was her internal freedom from the clutches of the household if the Heartfilia. But now, Lucy wants nothing to do with her. Maybe she should be glad that the same girl she raised has left for a life on her own, but for her own selfish reasons, she wants Lucy to be by her side.

"Ah Virgo, I'm going to see Mother. Please don't interrupt us," Lucy calmly said to her old friend as she pushed pass her. Only yo be stopped by the broad shoulders of a very pale man that she as almost too familiar with. "Capricorn. Please step aside."

"You know that I am not allowed to do that. Orders of your mother are absolute." Capricorn stated as he stepped back an arms length away from his mistress, "you know what you must do in order to have a meeting with your mother."

"Do you intent to willingly fight me. I know you have knowledge on who I am associated with. Should I call him right now?" Lucy claimed as a sneaky coy smile began to spread. Of course she knew that Capricorn had a small fear when it came to Fairy Tail. Maybe he was only trying to hide his presence because of her or maybe he know that he was in no position to take on the boss himself. The Lord knows that Virgo definitely can't compete.

"Rules are rules Ms. Lucy. You know that already. Virgo step aside." Capricorn commanded his co-worker, who unwilling obliged at her order. "Alright Ms. Lucy, you make the first move."

The woman could do nothing but stand there and smirk. Did he really believe that she sat on her ass and ate hot wings the entire time she was gone? No, she kept herself busy. She trained and practiced even harder than she was forced to before. Her torture resistance training by her father would be child's play to what she has done now. And she just could't wait to show her old life of what she can achieve.

"Call Mirajane and check the wounds," Natsu commanded his friend as he began to walk around the members of his gang. The images that he saw below him was more than enough to make his blood boil. The blood. The scars. The injuries. The small whimper that could slightly be heard by those with trained ears. All of it merely contributed to the wrath that would occur in the near future. The wrath of s Dragneel. The only question that could be answered. The only thing that ran through the mind of the pink headed killed.

Freed looked around the base at some of the barely moving bodies that laid out on the floor, "Who the fuck was dumb enough to mess with us?"
