Chapter 35: Juvia's Secret

"Alright explain," Mira said as she got off of Juvia and sat down on the couch, the dagger still being held tightly between her fingers.

"Yes..of course," Juvia said as she got up from the floor and began to move herself to the same couch, until Mira stop her.

"No...stay there...I don't know if I could trust you knowing what you did to us," Mira said in the most serious tone of voice that she can muster up, but it was clear that she was putting up an act. She was taking to someone that she considered her family and it really broke her heart a lot time when she found out that Juvia betrayed her and the rest of the family.

Juvia nodded at the girl and sat down back on the floor instead of the chair. She took a moment to herself, staring at the ground as if she was trying to gather up the courage to bring up her buried memories.

"It all started three years ago...

"Sissy, It's cold...when is Mama going to come. I miss her,"  Meredy said while the tugged the ragged skit that Juvia wore. The blue-headed girl looked down at her little sister and gave her a smile before she bent down to her eye-level.

"Don't worry I'm sure she'll be here soon. We just have to wait a little longer okay?" Juvia said as she playfully ruffled her little sister's head. The little girl merely pushed Juvia's hand away and started walking until she sat down next to a cardboard box near an ally. She bent her knees towards her chest to make herself as small as possible.

"I don't understand why we can't just go back home," Meredy cried as she hid her head between her legs. Juvia frown as she saw that her attempt at trying to cheer her sister up had failed and she did not have anymore tricks up her sleeve.

"You know why Meredy," Juvia sighed as she walked over to the girl and sat down next to her, "the bad man is still there. We won't be safe there by ourselves."

"But why does she have to be gone all the time. I love her. Doesn't she know that?" Meredy said as she moved her head from between her knees and and wrapped her arms around her sister. Little drops of tears forming around her eyes and she buried her face deep into her big sister's chest.

"Of course she knows you love her," Juvia said as she lightly stroked her sister's hair in hopes of comforting her, "she's just not doing so well okay. We just need to give her some more time."

"Oh who dragged in these useless brats!?" A dark blue-headed woman yelled as she stumbled her way towards the girls with an almost empty bottle swinging from her hand, "didn't I tell you to stay the hell home?"

"Hey! Maggie who's these kids?" A man asked her as she walked up behind the woman and drunkly draped his arms around her.

"My kids..but they are worthless. They don't listen to a word you say. Been trying to get rid of them," Maggie said as she finished drinking the last drops of whisky that was left in the bottle.

"Mom, let's go home. You're not feeling well. I'll take care of you," Juvia said as she got up and tried to get a hold of her mother, but she failed. Maggie slapped her hand away and the man that was holding her grabbed Juvia by the hair and pulled her close to him.
