Chapter 18

Jackson's POV
I walked out into the back garden, trying to as quiet as possible, not to wake anyone up. Emily was standing at the beginning of the tree line, waiting for me to meet her there. I walked up to her, but she didn't even notice I was there, probably because she couldn't see in the dark.
"Ummm...I'm here." I said
"Oh good, maybe we should head inside till it gets bright." She said heading back towards the building. I followed beside her as we walked in.
"Okay, So first up, I'm going to be teaching you science." She said as we walked into a free classroom. Then again, all the classrooms were free because everyone was still in bed.

She pointed to a seat up the front, as in indicating where to sit. I hated being up the front, although it was just me and Emily, so it wasn't as bad. I walked over to the seat and sat, although it felt more like I collapsed onto it.

"We're gonna take this slow if that's okay?" She asked standing next to the white board. I nodded, not really agreeing, but trying to be cooperative. She gave a small smile and began to teach and talk for what seemed like forever.

Mia's POV
I sat down at a free table, the cafeteria was crowded, but no one was staring anymore. Which was good, but Jackson was no where to be seen. I knew he was starting with a private teacher today, but I'm just worried about him. Since I moved rooms, I haven't been hanging out with Jessica and her friends, i guess it would be a good idea to make some new friends but I just don't want to ditch Jackson when he's got no one else.

The choice was difficult to make, it would be too hard to try both equally. I wanted to be with Jessica and her group, but I can't leave Jackson, I mean, I love him, I can't just let him deal with everything on his own. I just can't decide, I loved hanging out with them but I also liked hanging out with Jackson. I thought about it for a long time, I could get Jackson to be friends with them, although I doubt that would work, I'll just have to work it out as I go.

"Hey Mia" I looked up at the group staring down at me, breaking out of deep thought. It was Jessica and her group, Lily, Chloe, Bella and Christy.
"Hey what are you guys doing here?" I asked.
"Ugh, lunch. You" Christy replied.
"What do you mean?" I asked
"We came to eat lunch with you, I mean, we are friends aren't we?" Jessica asked
"Yeah totally." I replied, they all smiled and sat down at the table. Honestly it was good to have so much company.

Jackson's POV

I walked into the cafeteria, every table was full. I scanned everyone until I saw Mia with the same group as the dog whistle incident. I walked over to the cafe lady as she handed me a tray of raw meat. I walked over to Mia and her group.

"Hey" I said calmly, trying to sound friendly and encouraging.
"Hey, how was the new teacher?" Mia asked giving me a nice smile.
"good" I replied. Her friends were giving me strange looks, I couldn't tell what they meant exactly but if I were to guess I'd say that they hated me.
"Anyway you should sit down, hang out with us" Mia said happily. I looked at all the others, they were death staring me now, though Mia couldn't see considering she was facing me.

"Nah I'm okay, I should get back, my teacher has me piled up with work." I lied
"Oh okay, good luck." She replied before turning back to her friends who were now smiling at her and giggling.

I walked out of the cafeteria and into the back garden, I sat underneath a tree and began to eat. It was a good spot, I could see the building, the forest and the grass field. I ate my lunch in silence and watched all of the kids play on the field, they were mostly playing rugby. There were a few kids just mucking around on the field and others were just standing in groups and talking.

I never realised how lonely it was without Mia, but she had obviously moved on, and now it was my turn to. But how would I do that, I love Mia, I can't just get over her, I just can't. How could I learn to trust others, I only trust Mia, I don't think I can ever move on, it's just impossible.

I sat there for what felt like forever until the bell rang loudly. I exhaled loudly, I stood up and began to walk into the classroom that Emily had promised was private. She was sitting down waiting patiently while texting.

"Good, your here. Let's get started" she said happily. I exhaled deeply and sat down in the same chair from before. Emily began babbling again, although her voice was really annoying, she was a really nice teacher, she slowed down and spoke clearly just so that I could learn. It was kinda nice having help, not to mention being alone without any bullies or other students, although it was a little strange considering it's just you and the teacher, but it's pretty good.

It's not that I have a crush on her, I just thought it was really nice of her to help me like this.

Mia's POV

The bell echoed through the building making me flinch. Jessica, Bella, Chloe, Lily, Christy and I stood up and started to walk our seperate ways to our classes. Classes were pretty boring to say the least, even here, far away from home, science, English, maths and history were still the same. The only things that changed were the powers, PE, Power control and the students, as well as the teachers.

We had power control again in the afternoon, which I was looking forward to, although I don't know what I'm going to do, Jackson looked a little upset when he said he couldn't hang out with us at lunch. It could have something to do with my new friends, maybe he just wasn't comfortable with them. Though it is possible that it's something else, I'll try and find out today I thought.
