Mia's POV
"Soo, what happened?" The headmistress Asked
"I'm not sure." I replied "I only saw Jackson running away from them, and then they used that whistle, then he disappeared into the forest."
"Why would he run?" She asked
"I'm not sure, but Jackson has been having a hard time lately, he's probably just getting sick of it all." I replied. I looked around the room as the group of 5 who saved us from Gorge stood and listened.
"What do you mean he's been having a hard time?" The headmistress Asked.
"He's just not fitting in, he's not making any friends, he's having a hard time with work, and those kids keep picking on him." I replied."Why is he having a hard time with work, I even noticed that myself." She continued.
"He doesn't want me to say, but....he...he has dyslexia." I said, feeling disappointed in myself.
"Dyslexia, why would he hold something like that back?" She asked
"I don't know, he just didn't want anyone to know." I said looking at the floor.
"Hmmm......well, I want you to go out there and find him, calm him down and then bring him back, considering your the only person he really listens to." She continued, I nodded my head, "I will sort something out to better help him when he gets back." She said as she returned to her paperwork.I walked out the door, into the back garden and into the forest. I sniffed the air, it was faint, but I could smell his scent. I followed it for just over an hour, until I saw him sitting underneath a tree, sleeping. He was in human form which would make it easier to talk to him. I walked up to him and sat down beside him, nudging his shoulder. He quickly woke up and looked around before turning his gaze to me.
Jackson's POV
I looked at Mia, she looked worried.
"Why did you run away? I was so worried." She said
"Why were you worried?" I asked
"Because, you've been acting strange lately, and......well....you keep getting into fights." She replied. I looked down at the ground. "I just feel like I'm losing you is all."
"I'm okay." I said calmly. "We've only been here a few days, I'm just not used to it yet."
"Okay well......I think we should get back, the headmistress and teachers are getting worried." Mia said"Yeah" I replied, standing up and began to walk back to the main building. Mia was following by my side as we walked into the main building, we walked into the headmistress's office. The group of 5 people that saved us from Gorge were standing in there.
"Oh good, your alright." The headmistress spoke. "I've organised for you two to share a room, and I've also organised you a private teacher to help you with your studies." The headmistress said looking through a pile of papers before handing us an envelope. "I've put you two in a room with a lock, to keep most people out, there's two keys is in the envelope as well as the room number. Please don't loose your keys." She said giving us a friendly smile.
"What do you mean by private teacher?" I asked sounding suspicious.
"Well, I've organised a private teacher to help you with your studies. Mia told us you had dyslexia, which explains your work." The headmistress said.I turned to Mia, she was looking at the ground.
"You told them?" I asked angrily
"I had to, they wanted an explanation for your work." She replied refusing to make eye contact. I turned away from her and looked out the window.
"Okay well, you two should go and relax. Enjoy the rest of the day." She said.Mia and I walked out the door and began to head to our new room. We didn't exactly need to get our stuff, cause technically we didn't have any. We followed the room numbers until we came up to our room. I opened the envelope and grabbed out both keys, handing one to Mia and unlocking the door with the other. The room was the exact same set up, two beds on either side of the room, two closets and one bathroom. Mia sat on the bed in the left as I shut the door behind us, and taking the bed on the right.
"Jackson....I'm sorry....but I had to.....they needed to know." Mia said calmly
"I know." I replied
"Your lucky though, a private teacher." Mia said with a smile
"Yeah, thankfully it's only for studies, not for power control or PE." I laughed.
After a while, Mia and I went to the cafeteria and had dinner, before returning to our rooms and going to bed.****************************************************************************************************************
I woke to a loud knocking at the door, I walked to the door and opened it. There was a young woman standing there with a couple books in one hand.
"It's Jackson right?" The woman asked. I nodded as I yawned. "My name is Emily, I'm your teacher." She said with a friendly smile.
"Okay..." I said.
"I'm here to begin today's lessons." Emily said
"But it's still early." I replied
"That's the point, the early bird always get the worm." She said happily.
"Whatever, just let me get dressed." I said turning around and looking for some clean clothes in the closet.
"Very well, I'll meet you in the back garden." She said before turning around and heading down the hall. I grabbed my clothes and got dressed in the bathroom, being carful not to wake Mia.I looked out the curtain of the bathroom, it was still dark outside. I looked at the clock, 5:00am. Great. I thought. After I was dressed and fixed my bed head, I quietly closed the door, locking it behind me as I walked to the back garden. I never really realised it before, but I could see in the dark quite clearly, which was a bonus.
