Chapter 20

Jackson's POV
Mia and I had been through so much, but apparently that wasn't enough for her. If what Jessica was saying was true she was moving on and leaving me behind, leaving me in the dust. I didn't know what to feel, should I be angry, should I feel betrayed, or should I be sad. I didn't know what to do, I was frozen. I love Mia with all my heart, I really do, but I guess the feeling wasn't neutral. She was leaving me for some new friends, leaving me for people she had just met, even though we had been together for years, it felt as though it was fading into the wind.

"It must suck, your dad leaving you, you and Mia being kidnapped, tortured, experimented on and now this." She said with a snicker. I put my fists down, lowering my guard and my fighting stance. I stood there and stared at the ground. Jessica stood and watched, giving me an evil snicker.

"The truth hurts doesn't it." She continued. I said nothing, I just stood there, frozen, unable to do anything. I broke out of my frozen stance and headed strait for the door, running past everyone. Everyone stopped fighting and watched as I left, running through the door.
"JACKSON GET BACK HERE!" I heard Mr Ross yelled as I ran out. I continued to run down the hall and into my room. I slammed the door behind me, locking it before falling onto my bed.

Mia's POV
Christy and I were laughing and practicing our hand to hand combat when all of a sudden I see movement in the corner of my eye, I stopped and turned my attention to the movement. It was Jackson, he was running out of class, running swiftly to the door.

"JACKSON GET BACK HERE!" Mr Ross yelled. Why would Jackson do that, he wasn't the kind of person to leave without a reason. I started to run towards the door, i needed to know what was up with Jackson.
"MIA!" I could hear Mr Ross yelling after me, but I ignored him. I followed Jackson's scent to our room, I couldn't hear anything from the inside, it was dead silent.

I tried to turn the door knob but it was locked, I grabbed the key from my pocket and unlocked the door. Jackson was laying down face first on the bed. He was silent, he didn't make a single sound, I couldn't even hear anything not even his breathing.

"Jackson" I whispered as I slowly shut the door behind me. "Jackson what's wrong?" I asked, but there was still no sound. I sat on his bed next to him, his face was buried in his pillow. "Jackson you can talk to me" I continued
"No I can't." I heard Jackson whisper into the pillow.

"What? Why? I'm here for you." I asked, I was confused, I didn't know what he meant.
"We're supposed to be best friends." Jackson said still not moving.
"We are." I replied
"Then why, your telling all those bitches all of my secrets, everything." Jackson said angrily as he sat up.
"Bitches? Their my friends!" I said angrily.

"I know that, thats why you don't notice anything, because you think that their amazing, but their not. They hate my guts, they want me dead." Jackson continued.
"That's not true, they would never want to hurt you." I said trying to calm down. Jackson was mad, I could feel it, I could see it in his eyes.

"If your my best friend, why would you share those secrets, my secrets that I trusted you with. They want me dead whether or not you believe me. I thought that the idea of a friendship was to believe each other to stand by each other, but obviously I was wrong. Don't come crying to me when something goes bad" Jackson said angrily as he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

Jackson's POV

I told her what I thought, but she didn't believe me, she's probably thinking that their angels, that they can do no wrong and she's gonna get hurt. But it's not my business, not anymore, I'm done, I'm through with everything. I started to run, I ran and ran, I ran through the halls, past the classrooms and bedrooms and out the front door. I didn't know where I was, but it didn't matter, I just kept going and going until I could go no further.

I came to a stop, I was breathing heavily. I must have run for about 98km. I looked at my surroundings, I was in an empty silent street. It was dark, the sun had set a while ago I stood under the only working street light, it had an orange tinge. The street was completely silent, if someone had dropped a pin you would be able to hear it. There were houses on both sides of the street, all equal in size. The front yards were well tended to and green, full of lush grass.

All of a sudden I heard footsteps coming from the darkness, I let out a low growl. I sniffed the air, the scent was a familiar one. The scent itself made my skin crawl, making me shiver. Gorge emerged from the darkness, hands behind his back. He was alone, and frankly his expression was calm and looked pleased. I slowly took a few steps back, I could feel my own fear consuming my brain like a tsunami or a flood.

"I see your doing well." Gorge said as he approached me.
"What do you want?" I asked still taking steps backwards.
"Well, I know what's been going on, you have nowhere to go, no one to turn to. I thought I could help." He replied
"How can you help" I asked calmly
"I can admit that what I did in the past wasn't really fair, but let me make it up to you, we could be like a man and his dog, relying only on each other. We'll be partners, you being the dog, me being the master, only we'll both have each other's backs." He continued

"And why would I do that, why would I go with you?" I asked
"Because you have nowhere else to go, I will be like the father you never had, just you and me." He stopped walking towards me, I stopped walking backwards as well. I thought about it for a long time, the idea was soo tempting.
"Are you gonna torture me?" I asked
"Yes, but it's to make you stronger, less venerable, and some time soon, you'll learn to love it. You'll be strong, no one will ever betray you again, no one will be able to bully you ever again."
I thought about it for a few minutes, he was right I didn't have anywhere to go, and if Gorge could make me strong, I'll do it, I'll do whatever it takes.

"Okay, I'll do it, Master" I said calmly. Gorge approached me and put his hand on my shoulder.
"Very well, let's go home." He said as he started to walk in the direction he came from. I followed close behind him, after a while of walking we came to a red Toyota hylux, Gorge opened the door and gestured for me to get in, I jumped into the car, Gorge following close behind.

After we were both in the car began moving, one of the guards was driving the car. We sped off into the night, darkness surrounding us. The darkness gave me comfort, it was a comfort I had never felt before, it was nice.
