We stood there, the heat of the fire against our backs. We heard a high pitched maniacal laugh and then Maria appeared. She glanced around at everyone's faces until she landed on Adam's, she smiled and spoke. "Oh we have an unfamiliar face! How exciting! To bad I won't have the pleasure of getting to know you." She finished coldly then turned her head to me.
"I'm going to end you like you ended my sisters." She said matter-of-factly and proudly that her whole new born army shouted in glee. I scoffed and pulled out my sword as some familiar faces came into view. Logan and Carla, the two innocent members of the Greenland coven.
"I see that I should have killed you all instead of just Shea and Rochelle." I said calmly as I eyes them, Logan put his head down in shame as he gripped his mate. I scan over every face in the crowd of newborns, figuring out which ones were more of a challenge than others.
"I have no quarrel with any of you except Maria, I have only come for her head not yours. You are free to join our side or leave immediately and adhere to our rules and ways of life, but we will offer you mercy this once. If you choose to stay with your creator, you have granted yourself mutually assured destruction on the behalf of my family and I." I speak coldly as I look at all their faces. I hear several foot steps leaving the area as five of the newborns step through the crowd and joined us.
It was clear everyone else was clear in the choices they have made. Maria started laughing and stepped forward causing Adam and Katie to move closer to me. I raised my hand to signal it was okay.
"They're only going to kill you anyway, why listen to her when you're all going to die? She's part of the Volturi, they give no mercy! This murderer only speaks lies! Remember what she did to our poor sisters!" She started yelling louder and louder as she talked then it went silent.
"Kill her! Kill the monster!" She and her army charged at us as she spoke her soon to be last words. I raised my sword as we ran towards them and started fighting. As I slashed through newborns to get to Maria, the others tore the army from limb to limb and tossing them in the fire.
I ran up to the last of Maria's guards, grabbed him by the neck and whispered in his ear that he had his chance then put my sword through him and broke his neck. I threw one of the many lighters that I had on me at him and his corpse went up in flames. I put the tip of my sword in the fire, heating the blade as I walked slowly towards Maria.
We charged at each other and she knocked the sword from my hand. We begin to wrestle with one another. She kicked me fifteen feet in the air, as I landed on my back she jumped on top of me and started trying to rip my head off. I reached up and grabbed her by the throat and squeezed till she let me go. As she was clawing at my hand to release her, I slammed her into the ground causing her face to crack along with her neck.
As I hold her there I start punching her in the face, my anger and grief become the forefront of my emotions. I start crying as I punch and pulverize her head into literal dust. A group of newborns start coming towards me and jump on me, swarming me in their numbers.
I start fighting back, every punch I give I get bitten in return. I start getting angrier and I use my physical shield to blast them off of me. I stand up and let out a loud growl. They all run back in my direction, I start grabbing them all by the throat as they come and twist their heads off. The sound of glass breaking echoing in my ears with each decapitated newborn. Finally I kill the last one and I'm surrounded by dead bodies.
I look around and everyone is making sure that the others are okay. I let out a loud heavy sigh and hit my knees and start sobbing as I set all the corpses around me on fire telepathically.
As the flames die down and all that's left is ashes, a huge gust of wind blows through and carries it all. My last tear falls as I feel the heaviness leave my heart, I inhale deeply and exhale through my nose as I open my eyes and stand up. The first person I see is Esme and she gives me a knowing look and smiles, I smile back and look around.
I find Caius standing with Aro and Marcus talking to the five newborns. I walk over to them and hug Caius from behind and breathe a sigh of relief. This was my home and everything is fine now.
