Dear Ms. Hermione Jean Granger,

I am delighted to inform you that your match has been made. The ministry has taken the liberty of arranging your first meeting with your match on Saturday, the eighth of October, seven pm, at Le Lumiere in London. Your reservation is under Odysseas Elytis. If this time and date does not work for you, please owl Megan Strove in the Department of Health and Family Services.

Sincerely Yours, Luna Lovegood

Hermione looked in the mirror one last time. To say she was uncomfortable was an understatement because she rarely dressed up. Even at the ministry, she would wear comfortable dress robes or slacks everyday but Ginny convinced her to wear something nice because meeting her future husband was an “important event in a girl’s life”.

The red satin dress dress highlighted her tiny waist and flared out just above her knees. The deep red color was bold and highlighted Hermione’s hazelnut skin tone and chocolate brown eyes. Her dark curly hair was swept back into a neat bun and her full lips were painted a deep shade of red that matched her dress. The look was topped off with a thin gold necklace and dainty matching hoop earrings. Hermione looked stunning but she felt like a hot mess.

This entire situation made her feel uneasy. Some random group of experts supposedly found her ideal spouse in just a few months. She’s been looking for years and came up short.

Hermione arrived to the restaurant ten minutes early. The entire restaurant screamed ambiance. Crisp white linens covered the tables and bouquets of fresh wild flowers rested in the center. The restaurant was illuminated by candles giving playing on the sultry atmosphere. It was definitely a place built for romantic evenings.

The hostess greeted her with a warm smile before leading her to an already occupied table. A man with pale blonde hair and a charcoal grey suit was studying the menu. The menu covered his face so he didn’t notice Hermione approach the table.

Hermione cleared her throat as she approached and the man finally put his menu down. When his stormy grey eyes locked onto her deep brown one’s they both gasped. She recognized those eyes.

“Hermione Granger?” The man questioned.

“Draco Malfoy.” Hermione stated. “Well this is a surprise.”

Hermione couldn’t decide if this was a positive surprise or a negative one. On one hand, Draco Malfoy had aged quite well. Her was taller, his jawline was sharper, and he looked great in a suit, but he was still Draco Malfoy. The boy who spent years tormenting her and calling her filthy names. There was a chance that Draco had changed for the better, but only time would tell.

Hermione moved to pull out her chair but Malfoy stopped her, “Please allow me.”

After helping Hermione with her chair he sat down and flipped open his menu, “I was thinking about ordering a bottle of wine. Do you prefer red or a white?”

“I usually go for a cabernet sauvignon,” Hermonie responded.

Draco smiled, “As do I.”

A waitress came over to their table, took their orders, and returned with a fresh bottle of expensive red wine.

“So, Malfoy, what do you do for a living?”

“I work in real estate. Mostly muggle families but more and more wizards are moving to muggle London so I’ve assisted a few. What about you? Are you minister yet?”

Hermione laughed, “I’m only twenty four, most ministers aren’t elected until they’re at least forty. I work as a translator in the Department of International Cooperation.”

“You must travel a lot.”

She nods, “I just got back from France this morning.”

“Really? How was it.”

Draco and Hermione continued to joke, laugh, and talk. They caught up and discussed the bits of each other’s lives that they’d missed during their years of tormenting one another. They realized that they could have been great friends if they’d just listened to each other instead of arguing.
