*Before you ask, yes the title is a hairspray reference, yes I quoted Shakespeare in this chaper from memory, yes that is a picture from the 1968 movie adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and no I did not write the Harry Potter franchise, JK Rowling did so I'll give credit where it's due.*

It was a perfect spring day. The sun was shining, the grass was a vibrant shade of green, and the normally gloomy London smog had vanished revealing a bright blue sky. Draco had convinced Hermione to go on a little picnic so they could enjoy the sunny Sunday afternoon.

Draco’s head rested on Hermione’s lap as she read the last few lines of Romeo and Juliet, “A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”

“We’re kind of like those two muggles,” Draco said suddenly.

Hermione set her book down and began playing with Draco’s hair, “I don’t plan on faking my death any time soon.”

Draco looked deeply into Hermione’s brown eyes, “That’s not what I meant. I’m talking about the whole feuding families and star crossed lovers part.”

“My parents love you and your mother still doesn’t know we’re dating.”

“Your friends hate me and if my mother found out we were together, she would probably flip out.”

“We have to tell her eventually.”

“We could tell her at our wedding,” Draco suggested.

Hermione laughed, “How about we compromise. We’ll tell her when we get engaged.”

Draco sat up straight and smirked “I wish you didn’t say that.”

“What are you getting at, Malfoy?”

Draco pulled a small velvet box out of his pocket and turned towards Hermione, “I originally wanted to plan this over the top proposal with doves and a string quartet but this seemed like the perfect setting. Hermione, I know we’ve only been together for a year and a half but I love you and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. You’re clever and sexy and you bring out the best in me. Hermione Jean Granger, will you marry me?”

Draco opened the velvet box and Hermione gasped. Inside was a dainty golden ring with a round white diamond delicitaly placed on the center.

In all honesty, Hermione didn’t know what to say. She thought they were moving very fast but she loved Draco so much. He was everything she wanted in a partner and so much more.

“Draco, I love you, but-”

Draco’s face fell, “It’s okay. I know it’s a bit soon-”

“Just let me finish. I love you but I only want to accept this ring if you want to get married, not if you feel obligated to propose.”

“I’m proposing because I love you and I want to marry you.”

Hermione placed her hands on either side of Draco’s face, gave him a sweet kiss, and leaned her forehead against his, “Yes I will marry you.”
