*hola comrades, this is I, the weird author of this tale coming at you with another chapter. I have an importante question: when do you what this book to end? Your choices are a) after the wedding or b) after they pop out a kid. If you pick b, there will be trials and tribulations but we're all in this together. I know JK Rowling doesn't know this knock off sad attempt at a sequel exists but I know she's in this too. All rights go to her*
“Hermione this is the twenty sixth dress you’ve tried on,” Ginny remarked, “There must be something you like about it.”
It’s not that Hermione didn’t like the dress, she just didn’t love it. When she told the bridal consultant that her fiance said ‘money wasn’t an issue’, the bridal consultant immediately pulled the most expensive gowns in she shop. They were all beautiful but they were all over the top and too extravagant, even for a wedding. Hermione just wanted something simple that she could move in and that wouldn’t take an army of bridesmaids to help her use the restroom.
Hermione looked in the mirror and tried to picture herself walking down the aisle in the bedazzled masterpiece, and she couldn’t. The dress was too poofy and the beading was so large it was blinding. Hermione didn’t want to feel like a disco ball on her wedding day, she wanted to feel like a bride.
“Ginny the dress is beautiful, I just don’t feel like a bride. It just looks wrong.”
“I agree,” Mrs. Granger said, “and the beading is obnoxious. It looks like a five year old’s art project.”
“I think I want lace and no beading. If I want something shiny, we can always add some clips in my hair.”
“What about the first one,” Mrs. Weasley suggested, “You liked that one. What if you try it on again and then we can go from there.”
Hermione nodded and went into the dressing room. Hermione really liked the first dress but it just needed an extra bit of umph. It was an aline siluet with an open back and a deep neck line. Hermione even liked the bow that cinched in her waist. The construction of the dress was perfect, the only problem was, well, everything else. The dress was an awful shade of pink and the beading was all wrong.
Hermione walked out of the dressing room and gave a slow twirl, “The shape is perfect, and so is the neckline, and the back is gorgeous. Everything else is wrong.”
“The designer is actually in the shop today if you’d like to talk to him about some changes,” The consultant said with a hopeful smile. Hermione knew the poor woman was probably on her last leg. They were the very last group in the shop and she just wanted to find the dress of her dreams.
“That would be lovely,” Hermione said in a sincere tone.
A few minutes later the bridal consultant came in with a familiar face, “Dean? Dean Thomas.” Hermione asked with a baffled expression.
“Well, if it isn’t Hermione Granger.” Dean said with a smile, “And she’s wearing one of my wedding dresses?”
Dean and Hermione hadn’t seen each other in over three years. And now they were coming face to face with each other once again. Dean had made quite a name for himself in the bridal world. His whimsical designs and keen eye for detail, made him one of the most sought after designers in the business.
“Do you like it?”
“Love it,” Dean gushed, “That’s why I made it. It looks great on you but I can tell you don’t love it as much as I do.”
“It’s beautiful but I hate the color and I don’t like the embellishments.”
“But you like the bow?” Dean questioned.
“Love the bow and the shape and the neckline. Oh and I also like lace but not lace that’s super floraly. I don’t want to look like a doily.”
Dean circled Hermione and began sketching a new dress that met all of Hermione’s likes and dislikes. Over the years of them knowing one another, Dean had noticed Hermione’s style evolution. When they were in school, she never wore anything outside of the dress code. She still liked simple silhouettes and patterns, and when it was time for a formal event Hermione cleaned up well.
“Okay I think I drew something you might like.”
Like was an understatement. Hermione loved the dress. It was a perfect shade of white and it was everything Hermione liked. There was a geometric lace pattern covering the dress and even a sash to highlight her waist.
Hermione’s eyes began to water then gave Dean a hug, “It’s beautiful.”
“We can go over color swatches later but if you like it, it’s yours. When’s the wedding?”
“Three months from now.”
Dean’s eyes grew wide, “Okay we better get a move on, I have three months to make a masterpiece for the brightest witch of her age.”
