I sat down opposite to a concerned Gerald, focusing his full attention on me.
"What did you want to talk about?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowed leaving wrinkles on his forehead.
I took a shaky breath before crying out the answer quietly, "Benjamin. He used my body before you came to rescue me from his grasp."
Gerald did not respond. His body was still, his eyes did not blink. He seemingly looked like he barely registered the truth at all. Then, my gaze fell on his hand clenching to a fist.
The motionless body broke off into a tense state and a growing fury emerged from him. He jolted upwards and paced around the room while his hand clutched his forehead.
"That bastard, he touched you. He forced you..." He trailed off as the sound of his growling voice clashed back to him. He looked at me and his face softened. A strike of realization hit his face.
"I'm sorry," I apologized, holding back tears fighting their way out of my eyes.
He shook his head in dismay and walked over to me, his eyes sparkled with fresh tears. Gerald knelt and held my hands in his. "I promise to protect you this time. I won't and will never allow you to fall in Benjamin's clutches."
I wrapped my arms around him tightly, never letting go. "I am sorry. It's all my fault. I accepted his invitation and... and-" A vulnerable side of me was exposed. I kept sniffing while brushing away tears that had streamed down my cheeks.
He leveled his eyes into mine and gave a firm and stern look. "He will pay for what he had done. He can't get away with this. Three years and that night has haunted you, right?"
"Y-yes," I answered in a shaky voice then sniffed.
He lifted his hand up and let his thumb brush away running tears. I forced out a weak smile before my face faltered into a grim expression.
"You need to rest," He said. Gerald escorted me to the bedroom where the babies were sound and sleep.
I headed over to my bed and layed down against the soft mattress. I shut my eyes and let the darkness sink in.
Thud.
I quickly emerged from slumber and the menacing pitch black already surrounded me. The walls had receded into darkness.
Thud.
Another thump echoed through the bedroom and seemed to be coming from the roof. More thuds followed, like a pattern of slow and careful footsteps.
Then, my heart hammered quickly in my chest as the cries of babies came into earshot. I swiftly made my way over to the cribs, and one was empty. Sabrina... she's not there!
I sprinted out the bedroom and allowed my gaze to sweep the hallway. I decided to enter the rooftop. With adrenaline surging through my body, a power burst out. A pink glow blinded me for a few seconds and my feet didn't feel the ground. I flew out through the balcony and my eyes met a figure slowly melting into the darkness of the night.
I followed silently and felt fear and anger rush through my veins, about to lunge for the figure.
Patience had run out and I decided to charge for the figure. He fell flat as I slammed myself against him. He dropped onto the ground with a sickening thud and a small swaddle rolled free from his grasp.
My eyes widened in recognition as I carried the swaddle. Sabrina! I let her close to my chest as I approach the figure with a glare. He groaned whilst forcing himself upwards. His eyes landed on mine and it glowed red. The figure hissed. "You..." The deepened familiar voice rang through my head.
