After waking up at a decent time, I get dressed and meet my parents downstairs, who are already sitting at the dinning table having breakfast.
"Morning. Did you sleep well? " my dad asks.
"Yep." I smile and sit down across from him.
"How was your date?" Mum asks .
"A date? Who did you go out with?" Dad asks.
"It was a double date, Dad, with Matt, Julia and Joe from school. We went to a restaurant and saw a movie. It was fun."
"Do you like him?" Dad asks.
"He's nice." I shrug and stuff some bread in my mouth.
"By the way Christian is coming over for dinner tonight with his new girlfriend. You can ask Matt if he wants to join us, too. I'd like to meet him." Mom says.
Christian has a girlfriend? So he's over me. Well, that was fast. It hurts so much, knowing how easily he moved on.Mom probably just wanted to change the topic to release me from all those burning questions from my Dad but actually made it worse, 'cause now I feel so bad and it made me start to think about Christian again.
"I'll ask him." Not really wanting this evening to happen.
After breakfast I decided to call Matt anyway and he agrees to come over for dinner. If Christian moved on, I can show him I did, too. I know it's mean to use Matt, by getting his hopes up, but what else should I do? Sit here alone and watch Christian and his new girl? No. I need someone here with me.

"Lynn, come down. Christian and Britney just got here." My Mum shouts. I go downstairs and join them in the living room, where everyone already found their seats.
"Hi everyone." I greet and sit down on the couch next to my dad. Christian and Britney are sitting across from me.
"Hey, I'm Britney, Christians girlfriend. " she smiles and cuddles even closer to Christians side. She's pretty and his age, just like I assumed.
"I'm Lynn. Nice to meet you." I fake a smile and avoid looking in Christians direction.
Before anyone else can say anything the door bell rings again. This time I stand up and open the door for Matt.
"Hey." I greet him with a hug.
"You look stunning." He says when he comes inside. I'm wearing a red skirt with white hearts on it, a black long sleeve shirt with a golden statement necklace, some black tights and black pumps that have some golden highlights.
"Thank you." I smile.
We enter the living room and I introduce Matt.
"Dinner is ready." My mum says and we sit down at the table. Matt sits next to me and Christian sits across the table from him. They both look at each other.
"Hello Mr. Richards. I didn't expect to meet you here." Matt says. Oh no, this is so awkward!! I haven't thought about Christian being our teacher. Damn.
"I'm a family friend." He answers.
"They are your students?" Britney asks.
"Yes. I teach them in English. "
Mom serves the food and then I ask: "How did you two meet?"
"At the cafe, where I work, a few weeks ago. We talked for a while and he finally asked me for a date. He was a real gentleman." she smiles at him. "Is he your boyfriend?"
"No, we just had our first date yesterday. " I answer too fast. I hope I didn't hurt Matt's feelings but I have to set that clear.
Christian looks at me with no expression. What is he thinking? I feel really uncomfortable around them. Christian looks at Matt most of the time and Britney talks a lot. I can tell Matt feels uncomfortable, too. I feel so sorry for dragging him into this.
After dinner Matt has to go home and I help mom clean the kitchen. "I'll get the plates, can you wash the dishes?"
"Of course, Mom." She leaves and Christian enters.
"Where is the wine bottle?" He asks.
"There." I point at the table.
"Why did you stare at Matt all the time?" I ask a bit angry, while turning around to face him.
"Do you like him?" His voice is calm.
"Of course I do. Why do you even care?"
Before he could answer, my Mom enters the kitchen and Christian leaves with the bottle of wine. Great, thanks for that conversation.
When I finish cleaning the kitchen I go back in the living room where they're sitting now.
"When are you coming over then? My Mom asks.
"When are you two leaving?" Christian asks.
"We have to be at the airport at 2 pm. So we're gonna leave around 1 o'clock."
"What are you talking about? " I ask confused.
"Dad and I are going to Paris for of our 20th anniversary and Christian will stay here to watch you." Mom explains. WHAT?
"Mom, I'm 17, I can take care of myself. I don't need a babysitter!"
"I know you're not a child anymore but I don't like the idea of you being alone here. I just want you to have a grownup at home." She is so overprotective! And where is this sudden trip coming from?! I feel like I'm left out of all decisions in this household!
"I can stay at Julia's house then."
"No, Christian will be here and no more talking back."
"That's not fair."
"Life isn't fair. " Dad says.
"When are you leaving? " I ask.
"Next Friday and we'll be back on Sunday evening."
Great a whole weekend with Christian alone in my house. I bet he brings Britney with him. If so I won't be able to stand their kissing or the whole couple acting thing. I just have to be out all day meeting with Julia or Matt, so don't have to be around him. How can my parents not enlighten me earlier?
That night I have another talk with my mom about this whole weekend situation. Seems like they already asked Alex and his wife, but they are busy and they don't want me staying with my aunt, because she already has handful with my cousins. She said that she knows that it might be weird for me to have my teacher live with me, but he's such a nice person that they trust him. In the past months they developed a great friendship and Mom just feels better when she knows that I'm not alone all the time. And it's only for two days.
I can't even say anything against it anymore. I'm not gonna tell her that it's not only weird because he's my teacher, but also that I had or have a crush on him. But this would make that whole situation even more complicated and I don't want to make things weird between my parents and Christian, because it really seems like they've build up a great friendship. My teenage heartbreak does not fit in all of this. Beside nothing really happend. He stopped it all before it could have started anyway. I just have to get used to it and get trough that weekend.
