I was a little scared to head all the way back to my mother-in-law's house. I wasn't sure how she was going to feel about seeing me again after the entire spat she had with me and what had happened to my poor wife. I know she was only doing her job as the mother of my wife, but it just felt a bit too harsh. She could've told my children that I wasn't coming back. She could've told them that their mother was hurt because of me so when I got back, to not speak to me. I know that Rose seemed nice, but she also knew how to play both sides of the field if she really had to. But, at the same time, I knew was so happy that I was finally going to be seeing my girl, my children, and go back to what we used to have before.
I'm coming up the entrance to the house, riding my horse all the way till I see the front door open and here comes Arthur, Andrew, and little Sadie, nearly running towards me. "Pa!" They all shout before I jump off my horse, nearly losing my hat and I'm nearly running to them before I crouch down and all three of them embrace me as I do them. "My babies... Ah my babies... You three are okay." I mumble as I'm pulling them even closer to me. They all seem to lean into me too as we're just taking in this moment. I never wanted to let them go again, for I was just fearing that they would be taken away from me again. Though, I knew I had to let them go. I sigh in contentment as I look at the three of them over. They were all looking just a little bit older. Little bit more wise too. "Arthur... You look so good son. Andrew, you look amazing too, and my little Sadie, those eyes are still bring my heart happiness. Did they do anything to you guys?" I ask as I'm looking at my oldest son. He then shakes his head. "No, pa. They didn't. We didn't have it too bad. Some of the guards were nice, others, not so much. But, I made sure we were all safe. Sadie was able to play more than Andrew and I could. We mostly did reading and school work."
"Good... Good." I state as I stand from my spot to see my wife within the doorway. I stand from my spot before Andrew looks up at me. "Momma's hurt. She told us Uncle Dutch did it to her." I look down at the little boy before I agree with him. "Where is Uncle Dutch?" Arthur then asks and I just shake my head. "He's--- Gone now son." I reply as I leave the three but they do end up following me as I'm coming up the steps ever so slightly. "Selina..." I mutter lowly before she finally gives me a smile. She comes up to me from the very top as she places both her hands on my face and our lips are connected. I wanted to cry kissing this woman again, feeling the affection she was offering to me right now. I step up so we can be on the same level as I place my hands upon her waist. Which makes me just a bit taller than she was before she laughs a bit.
"Looks like John kept his promise, got you back to me nice and safe."
"As always, Sel. I always find my way back to you... You, our kids, and this little one right here." I mumble as I place my hand on her abdomen. She laughs before she nods her head to me."Did you see Dutch?"
"I did see Dutch, yeah."
"And you killed him right?"
"All I can say, is he's dead. Man fell off the edge of a cliff."
"Good. I'm glad. Never thought I'd say that but I am."We nod in agreement as she's leading me in, her mother and father had gone off to the general market and Ryan is sitting upon the couch. "How's the wound? You don't look so down in the dumps like you was couple days back?" I question my wife. "Better, thankfully. It's sore and all, but it's better. I'm sorry for the nasty stuff my mother said to you." If I was honest, I was waiting for the apology from Selina's mother. But I would take it from my wife right now. "It's okay. I know a lot can be said in anger. Know she was probably worried about you and all as I was." I give Ryan a wave before he gives me one right back. "Welcome back to reality, Asher. Your kids, they're amazing." Ryan muses happily before Arthur, Andrew, and Sadie come up to him and sit with him once more. "Think I can get used to being Uncle Ryan." He chuckles as he brings Sadie within his arms and gives her a kiss on her head. "They most definitely love him." Selina utters with a laugh and I smile at the other male. He really did seem very much attached to the kids already and they seemed like the adored him just as much. Selina and I headed into our room for the time, just so I can sit and she can rest herself as well. "How the kids like your dad?" I question as Selina sits upon the bed, I place my hat upon the dresser before she shrugs. "Well, just like Ryan, these are two new people in their lives. Sadie might develop a closer relationship with both, but at the same time, Arthur really is curious about his grandfather he's never met. Keeps wanting to know why we've never introduced them to him and I mean--- I don't know what to say other than he hurt momma long ago and she hasn't seen him since."
"Guess it is understandable, Sadie is still young, know Arthur and Andrew probably feel as though this is just something different for them in their whole twelve and ten years of life."
"I suppose, you wanna nap with me for a little bit?" She questions with a grin which makes me nod my head to her.
I was happy to be back with these five and a half. But I was still worried I wasn't as welcome as I used to be back in the day.
