A couple days passed before the kids returned from their grandparents. Rose and Antonio are driving the wagon down the path as Selina, Nathan, and I are standing on the porch, we chose to go with the nickname "Junior" for little Asher, just so we wouldn't get all that confused with my name and his. The baby is wrapped within a blanket in his mother's arms as we're waving at them arriving. "Momma!" The three of them shout as they jump out of the back of the wagon, Arthur waiting to help Sadie out before they run over as well. "What is it? What are they?" Were the main questions Arthur and Andrew were asking and Sadie didn't seem to have much to say, she just really wanted to see the baby. Selina goes and sits on the nearby bench we have on the porch so the kids can look. "What did what you have momma?" Andrew asks as she gives them a smile. "I had a little boy, this is Asher Jr., he's named after your pa." Andrew and Arthur smile widely and Sadie reaches up so she can gently touch the hand of the infant. "Can we call him Asher?" Arthur asks as his eyes direct to me. "You can If you want, or you can call him Little Asher, or even Junior if you want." I reply as I place my hand upon his shoulder as he looks back at the baby with a smile. "Hi, Junior, I'm you're big brother, Arthur, and this is your other big brother Andrew and your big sister Sadie. We all will protect her as she grows up." My oldest son muses happily. Selina looks as if she could cry as she watches her older children interact with our newest addition.
Antonio comes up the steps and smiles widely, Rose by his side. Now him, he looks like he's being rocked with emotion right now. "Selina... He's so handsome." Rose mutters and she runs her fingers over the soft hair of the baby in her daughter's arms. "Thank you ma... He looks like his daddy. No doubt I made the right choice in name." She replies with a laugh as I roll my eyes and give her a wink. Antonio, well, he missed out when it came to his other three grandchildren so I knew this was gonna be a bit for him. Selina looks up at her father and gives him a smile. "Daddy... Do you wanna hold him?" She then asks of the older man, who actually has a tear roll down his cheek. "Selina, I'd want nothing more than to hold my newest grandson." My wife is glowing as she gently passes the infant to her father. He brings Little Asher close to him and he yawns, touches his face with his small hands and seems to snuggle a little closer to his grandfather. "God. My daughter, you've outdone yourself. Both of you... Thank you for this... I'm so glad I got to be apart of this final one." We knew we couldn't make up for him not being able to be there for the other three, but right now seemed to be all that mattered.
Rose and Antonio wanted to be apart of everything with the new baby and they chose to watch him, Selina and I taking a small walk in the nearby field. Hands are interlocked as we're strolling. I look over at her and just can't help but smile. That was the usual, I could never stop. Her green eyes direct to me and all I can see, is that same girl who would look at me like this when we were camped up at Clemens Point and we had just chosen to be official with our relationship. The way she focused on me, her beautiful features and just how happy she was. God I was so in love with her. "Every time I look at you, I swear you're looking at me like I'm some sort of goddess." Selina replies with a smirk before I chuckle. "Honestly, Sel. I usually am. You're so beautiful. Everytime I do look at you, it just feels like the first time."
"Even with the extra wrinkles and small grey hairs I'm getting nowadays?"
"Even then. I guess... Thinkin' on it and all, I just can't believe this is my life. We have four amazing children, you're stronger than ever and literally gave birth all in your own a few days back. We've had such an amazing and interesting life together. Though we've lost people like John and Arthur along the way, I know everyday they look down on us with so much hope." I began to think about when I saw Arthur for that short period of time. Which, I mean, Selina was a little bit of a religious woman, she did believe in a higher power and that we all would one day meet up in heaven. Me? Well, my mother was very religious and therefore, yeah, I did believe in that higher power too. I chose to stop ya for the moment, finally ready to share my story with the one I trusted most to not judge me on it. "Selina... When I got shot a couple months back, I—- I think I died for a moment. Something like that. But—- I saw Arthur again. He told me it wasn't my time. Sent me back in the other direction. Then I just remembered I came back to, and your father was standing there. But Arthur told me he's been watching us since the day he left. I guess in many ways, we know he has." I looked down for a moment before she gives me a grin. "Ya know, I think that's an amazing story, Asher. I'd like to think that's a good thing that happened to you, got to see your friend, and he even told you it wasn't your time. Which even I know I'm thankful for." She places her hand upon my cheek as I give her a smile. "I suppose. Thank you for not judgin' me." I chuckle before she laughs as well. "Never in a million years will I judge you for something like that." We kiss once more before heading back, once more, this felt like the most beautiful reality. Though we were in a new area and house, it was everything to me.
