The next day is upon us now, Selina and I had come to a mutual understanding that we would head back to our ranch in a couple days or so. We wanted to give the kids some time to get to know Ryan and Antonio, these two new men in the lives of our son's and our daughter. Sadie adored Ryan as her Uncle, which he in return, loved her right back. Antonio and Ryan wanted to spend time with her today, along with Rose as well. She'd have a great time out with her grandparents and Uncle. Selina was gonna take the day to simply rest a bit more. She was still being it from being shot, she was sleeping most of the time now, eating what she should be eating too.I took the boys down to the nearby river to do some fishing, just because that seemed like the best option right now for them with everyone out of the house and their mother healing. "Pa... Why didn't momma tell us about grandpa and Uncle Ryan?" Arthur asks before Andrew directs his attention up to me as well. "Yeah, pa. Why didn't she tell us?" He adds before I allow a shrug to roll through my shoulder, holding my fishing rod within my hands as I'm watching it closely. "Your momma hadn't seen your Uncle Ryan in quite a long time till her and I went down to Mexico. First time she did see him. He was a big part of your momma's life till he left to come down to Mexico. He makes great food. Hope you boys can try it one day."
"What about grandpa? She said that he hurt her feelings back when she was younger."
"Yeah... That's what she told me too. Your momma and grandpa have a strained relationship. I don't know if you know what that means but basically, when your momma was young, your grandpa ended up leaving her, he lived the life your ma and I lived before you was born and basically he just kind of left her. It made her very upset and she hasn't seen him since then either."
"Does she not like grandpa then?"
"Ya know... Ya momma hasn't told me she doesn't like him... She just feels indifferent." The boys seem a little confused but Arthur seems to get it. He knows his mother is the type that likes to keep the peace. No wonder her and his grandfather were getting along as if nothing was bothering her. But he was sure it was. Arthur and Selina always did have a connection in that emotional sense. "I guess I understand, I feel like she doesn't like him, but she wants to give him respect. Which is what everyone should do."
"Exactly son, exactly. I think her real concern for you boys and Sadie, is that he's gonna leave again. She doesn't want you to feel like she did long ago. But, how do you boys feel about your grandfather? Do you at least like him?" I ask as I'm flicking my fishing rod a bit, trying to see if I could attract something. Arthur looks at his brother as if he's wanting him to speak up as well. "I like him! He told us stories about him and grandma and how they met." I chuckle before I give him a smile. "He also tells us about him being a gunslinger from back in the day. It's really cool!" Andrew adds before I laugh a little bit more. "Well, I'm glad you like him Andrew. What about you Arthur?"
"He's not bad, I just wish I got to know him a little sooner."
"I understand, I do too. But sometimes life just doesn't work like that. You both will understand that as you get older."We sit in silence as we're all focusing close on our fishing adventure now. I reel in a Salmon as Andrew brings in a smaller one. Arthur then brings in one bigger than mine and I have to help him get it in. Ryan was gonna be pleased with the meal he could prepare tonight alongside his sister. Him and Selina agreeing on making dinner like they used when they were teens for their parents. Just something fun and all for them and it would feel normal for my wife to be cooking for her family, one of her favorite things to do. "Pa? Why didn't ma tell us she was gonna have another baby before we left?" Arthur then asks as I look over at him, he was always curious about these kinds of things and I was sure it was a surprise when they showed back up and saw their mother with a baby bump again like they did when she was having Sadie and all. "She had just found out apparently. Just the day before or somethin' like that. She would've told you guys had nothing happened."
"Oh. Wow... I'm happy though you guys are having another baby. Maybe we'll get another little brother!" Andrew then exclaimed happily. I smile before I lean in and give my son a kiss on top of his head. "You both are adorable. Gonna be some of the best men there are one day. Hopefully, sure your mom wouldn't mind one more boy. Then the both of you and that little guy can protect Sadie with all you got." That was an idea I loved. Having three guys who could make sure their sister was happy and was protected.
"We'd love that! Two older and one younger!" Andrew states happily.
I knew my boys were the most amazing guys there were and they were only gonna get better with age. We continue on with fishing, for I was looking forward to having our meal tonight.
