We return back home with at least five salmons to have Selina and her brother cook tonight. Andrew and Arthur choose to start playing around outside which usually consisted of tag, drawing in the dirt, or even just watching the clouds. It looked like Selina's parents and her brother still weren't back with Sadie so I chose to just head inside. I put the salmon in an ice bucket and open the door to the bedroom where I find my wife reading a book, just as she used to when we were in the gang. The usual thing she did when she got farther along with Arthur and she wasn't hunting or doing anything else. "Hey, lover boy. How was fishing?" She asks as she puts her book down with a smile upon her face. "Good, real good, I caught two, Arthur caught two, and Andrew got one. He of course isn't as interested in it as Arthur is, boy ended up skipping rocks once he got that first one." I chuckled as I put my hat upon the dresser as usual. I then come up the end of the bed and just lay upon the girl's legs. Placing a couple kisses to her abdomen as I rest my chin upon it.
"How has the reading been?"
"Same as ever, just reading this book by Leslie Dupont. Which John told me was actually Mary-Beth. This book is called 'The Lady of the Manor' and it's quite romantic and beautiful."
"Wait, Mary-Beth Gaskill?"
"Yes, Leslie Dupont is just her author name."
"Wow, can't believe ol' Mary-Beth went off and achieved her dreams like that."
"She most certainly did." My wife giggles a bit before I just sit there and admire her for the moment. She truly was beautiful when she spoke on something she loved and it was so nice to see her the way she was right now. Happy again, laughing again. This was the Selina I married from the start. The one who wasn't afraid to show you who she truly was and that was all I could ask for from her. I had missed her like this over the last few months, that beautiful smile and the way those green eyes lit up when she talked. Just oh so amazing. Though, as my stare lingers too long, she's quick to give me a bit of a smirk. "Why you lookin' at me like that, Mr. Sanders?" She asks before I laugh, "Just thinkin' on how beautiful you really are, Selina. That's it. You're the most beautiful and amazing girl I ever got the liberty to meet and I'm sure I will always be thankful." I state, that same dreamy eyed look at her. Her face turns a gentle shade of pink as she rolls her eyes in a playful manner. Putting the book to the side of her as she brings down her hands to run her nails through my locks of hair. "You are oh so sweet to me, Asher. Always have been and always will be. Need you a haircut though... How about I do it for you? Trim up that beard of yours as well?"
"You? Giving me a haircut huh? Alright, Sel. Think that's something I can get behind." I reply with a smile as I stand from my spot now and help her up. I don't think I had ever thought my wife would be willing to do my hair. She did both Arthur's and Andrews from time to time. Never once had I thought she'd wanna do mine as well.We head out onto the back porch so the boys didn't come up to bother us, last we checked, they were laying in the grass nearby, just watching the clouds and telling one another what they looked like. Which was always the cutest thing they ever did sometimes. I sit upon a chair Selina had brought outside along with the scissors. My wife steps in front of me as she's looking at my hair for the moment. "Ya know, I think we need to make the sides a little shorter than the top. Then we can trim the top up a little and maybe style it with some pomade." I look up at her in admiration as she speaks, for it always was music to my ears. "Whatever you wanna do, Barber Sanders, the look is all up to you, my lady." She grins at me before she comes on in and goes for it. We had agreed that she would trim my beard, but I would handle anything with the razor if it needed to happen. But, I was more or less looking for her to just get more of my cheeks than my main goatee. I hadn't shaved myself down like I used to in a while. Just wanting that natural look of me aging and all finally. I watch as my black hairs are falling off my shoulders and to the wooden floor below. She was taking her time, even stepping back to make sure everything was even. She kept apologizing for her abdomen touching me every so often and all I really could say was how I couldn't be upset, that was my baby in there, kept joking about how I could hear what they were saying and how they kept telling me that they were going to be so happy when they arrived. Always enough to make her smile when I could talk about our children like that.
She then comes and works on my beard, making sure to take off more of the sides and jawline than the goatee. Just so that part could have a thicker look to it. She leaves me to go get the pomade and I'm feeling through my hair and it actually felt like it did when I got it done professionally anywhere else. Nice short and faded outsides with the top longer and ready to be styled. My wife returns with the pomade and she does it up like my barber would. The part on the right side with everything else nice and slicked down she then gives me a mirror with a proud smile. "Tell me I did okay for one of the first times doing your hair, cowboy." I then take the mirror and looked myself over and it was as if she had shaved about five or so years off me. "Wow... Shit, why haven't you been doing it all this time? It looks amazing Selina! Thank you!" I state happily before I stand and bring her into a close embrace. Placing a couple kisses to her forehead and then her lips. "You did an amazing job. Truly." She laughs before she gives me another kiss. "You look handsome as ever, Asher. Looks like I'll be doing your hair more often. Save us some money."
"Please and thank you."We laugh once more, before we turn and just look off at the mountains and the forest before us. Always nice for us to admire the views and all that. Selina and her brother made an amazing fish and chicken dinner with some green beans that night. It was to die for if I was honest and Selina's mom did take the time to apologize for her words finally. Stating that she was in the wrong and maybe she needed to rethink her words and that she still did admire me for the way I treated her daughter.
All seemed well for the moment. Normal if I could put it into words. This was the life we intended to lead. A normal one.
