Chapter 11

Tris's pov
I still cannot cope with the fact that Tori is gone. I watched the light leave her eyes, I watched as her body crumbled against the pavement. It plays over and over in my mind like a broken record. I tighten my grip around Tobias as he carries me upon its back, I rest my head in the crack of his neck, taking in his lovely sent which seems to calm me down. The sound of brief conversation sounds muddled together in my ears.

It feels like what has been hours when my eyes flutter open widening at the sight.
The gorgeous scruffy field full of small flowers, what lies beyond the field looks to be some wooded area.
"She's awake!" I hear Zeke shout which causes me to glare at him. Tobias sets me down gently, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I stretch my arms as I yawn taking in the beautiful scenery. That time was cut short as we continued to walk, after roughly 25 minutes or so we had reached a chain linked fence curled with wiring at the top, that surely looked dangerous but who I am to judge we jumped off trains in our old life.
"Let's just climb over the fence!" Uriah shouts as he inches toward the fence, only to be interrupted by Cara, "Actually I wouldn't this fence is like the one back home could be electrified or should be at least." She says matter of factly as she pointed to a sign.
I can barely make the letters out but if she's right, she's right then. Uriah doesn't even bother to listen to Cara as he gently listens for a sound of humming to see if the fence is alive.

"It's not on, but thanks for the knowledge, Nose."

" Well I mean you could climb it and get scarred up by the barbed wire at the top and complain about it all the way", Cara spat back.

"Why don't we just find a loop hole, arguing won't do anything and Evelyn's lackys or Eric and his junkies are probably looking for us," I said as I rolled my eyes and walked along the fence searching for a loop hole, with Christina trailing behind me.

"Tris over here," I hear Tobias call for me.

I walk towards where he stands only a few feet infront of Christina and I, and there lies the loop hole. I call the others over here and we began to crawl through the hole, one by one with Zeke going first and Tobias being last. Once we were all through we stood in the middle of what looks to be a ghost town.
Tobias, Zeke, Uriah and Lynn tuck their guns in the waistband of their pants as Tobias places two knives in my back pocket.

"Let's find some abandoned place so we can take shelter for the night" Tobias declares and no one protests.

We all trail behind Tobias, Uriah And Marlene behind him, while I stand by his side as Zeke, Shauna, Caleb, Cara, and Christina as well as Lynn trail behind in silence. I question this place, it's eerie and practically a ghost town. Tobias glances around as if Evelyn's posse or even Eric will just pop out of no where.

"Cameras." Is all he says while the others looked confused.

"Here and there" he points in the direction of the cameras.

"We need to be careful so let's go." He stated

Before I could even put in my two cents in, we are off and walking. Soon enough we find a house, that looks decent but also abandoned like the city is. Tobias nods his head toward Zeke and the two go to check the house out, giving us an all clear to head in.
I sigh softly as I enter the dark house, a chill runs down my spine as I look around noticing a photo of a man atop the fire place. We all decide to settle in for the night, Zeke and Shauna lay together on a couch, Caleb is on the floor whilst Cara nuzzles his side, Christina took on room as Lynn took the other, Marlene and Uriah took the couch next to Zeke and Shauna. Tobias and I stand for a few minutes as I snake my slender arms around his waist pulling him closer to me.

"I love you Four" I mumbled softly as I bury my face in his chest.

"I love you too Tris" He replied with a tired tone.

He leads me down a hallway, to the room at the end, it was unoccupied since the others all found their places. I walked him as he trailed behind. I am so physically drained from all we had done that as soon as my head hit the pillow I am out like a light.

When I wake up, I stretch my arms out seeking Four's warmth but I find nothing but coldness. I groan softly as I get up, running my fingers through my hair before heading toward the small living room. I hear chatter as I lean against the door frame waiting to be noticed, Marlene sees me and smiles joyfully.

"Tris! You're awake."

I smile softly in return before walking over and sitting next to Christina.

"What were you guys talking about?" I asked.

"We can't stay here long Tris, Four decided that we're leaving by evening tonight." Zeke responded.

I only nod as I take in the surroundings of the house, the fireplace looks dusty as if it hasn't been used in months, the kitchen is full of remedies in jars, and there is a strong scent of fire, just like the burning coal at The Choosing Ceremony.

We were all in a circle on the living room floor as Uriah was telling a story about how he shot a muffin of Marlene's head.

"And that's how I shot a muffin off her head." Uriah finished his story and we all laughed softly.

I cherish those memories in Dauntless, well some of them.
Suddenly we hear the front of the house door open and we all hide into a corner. Four standing in front of me with his gun drawn, as I stand behind him gripping his shirt to stay calm.  Zeke stands at my side with his gun drawn also while Caleb cowers away into the corner more holding Cara tightly.  I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding, then my eyes caught a glimpse of the figure. A girl roughly my age, dark brown hair into a braid that lies on her shoulder, piercing stone cold grey eyes like Eric's. She whipped her head in our direction as Uriah was pacing in his place nervously, little did he know it was making noise. Lynn smacked Uriah upside the head to make him quit, and that's when the arrow hit the frame right by Caleb's head. The look on his face was priceless to Zeke as he tried to keep his laughter in, my brother just looked like a dear. I am mesmerized by the shiny object that punctured the frame. I run my fingers along the cool metal, letting out a sigh.

"Who's there! Show yourselves or I shoot, and I won't miss this time!" She barks at us.
Before I could even say anything Four speaks up

"Move and you die." He growled.
